I have been to The George numerous times and every time the food has been delicious. We took my Dad for his 81st birthday and there were 10 of us. The staff was great and everyone enjoyed their meals. View all feedback.
What Cathy descamps doesn't like about The George:
Waited an hour and 40 minutes for our food, too loud to hear others, really want to like it, will give it a third shot before not going again. I understand Mother's Day brunch can be busy View all feedback.
Food was decent- breakfast tacos bland. Supposedly short in kitchen but took a good 1.5 hrs for service. Toooo long for not 5 star food. Had to ask for coffee refills, find someone for a kids cup to replace the glass give to my kid. I'll try somewhere else before coming back
I don't think I qualify to comment on the food as I only had an appetizer. I hate to say it I ate it but it was just ok. The waiter didn't seem as friendly or interested in his job. I'm sorry it wasn't so busy when we came in but you have to smile and at least pretend that you are happy to see a customer...
Glad there appears to be a place in CH that has a nice range of options on the menu to appeal to all. Look forward to trying more dishes. Had the buffalo shrimp with blue cheese and bacon. It had more kick to it than I usually tolerate, so the ranch dressing was helpful to cool it. Hubby enjoyed the seared tuna dish—was a nice flavor, good quality and presentation. Decent things to say about the food, and the service was adequate—-not sure how it would be if it were more packed. It was a stormy Saturday, so maybe it kept a few folks away than normal so it was a good time to check it out. The bar acoustics are loud, so any more people and you might have to raise your voice to carry a convo.Liked the ability to watch sports on the screens there. Here are the quirks. The decor was super strange. Plastic plants emanating from wall sconces, and similar fake foliage popping out of ceramic lips tchotchkes peppering the countertop. Really??? This is only from the bar area so I haven’t seen the main dining, bathroom or private rooms. The look gives off a cheap, odd feeling. Something I’d expect at a tiki bar, not something in downtown CH.And the music…while I don’t mind retro music like Culture Club and Lionel Ritchie, it was a surprise element to hear tunes like this dominating the spot song after song. It seemed out of place and disconnected for the atmosphere. Maybe I’m not aware of what this theme is supposed to be so that’s my bad, but I left thinking it was sort of rushed or mish moshed into the landscape/experience instead of put together, well-aligned.I’ll still be back to try more dishes and give it another shot, but hoping the music incorporates some variety or sophistication and that the decorations get a new home on eBay—-to make way for a much needed upgrade.
They had a limited menu and still ran out of food, but they didn't tell us. They just brought out frozen chicken tenders and pretended that's what we ordered. Medium rare steak came out like hockey puck. Awful food and awful service.
We had a reservation for Mother's Day. It was packed when we got there. We ordered our appetizer right away but it took an hour to get it. After two hours we had to leave. My husband stayed behind to wait for the food to bring home. Of the four items ordered only the omelet was fine. The table next to us left without food. Unfortunately they have big problems. We will try them again sometime because we really want them to succeed for our community.
