What Alize Hickle doesn't like about Black Cat Cafe:
I come to the black cat cafe when I am in the shopping center, either with family or solo. the staff is always friendly and very courteous, even though 'of the feet swung. the new staff, young and who seems ready to serve etc. needs time. to learn the sol and if busy times occur, it is hard for them! we have to lean back and give them the opportunity to win without any problems experience! I "pop" into black Cat Cafe whenever I am at the shopping centre either with family or solo. The staff are always friendly and very accommodating even when 'rushed" off their feet. The new staff, young and who appear willing to serve etc need time to "learn the ropes" and when busy times occur it is hard for them! We need to sit back and allow them the opportunity to gain experience without hassles!!! Thank you Black Cat
We don't often visit the Eastlands shopping centre (colloquially nicknamed "Wastelands") on Hobart's Eastern Shore very frequently, but I recently visited with my 6-year-old daughter during the school holidays. With positive memories of the old "Leo's" cafe-restaurant at Eastlands, we decided to have lunch at the Black Cat Cafe, which is located adjacent to the Eastern ground-level carpark facing the Rosny Bus Mall, a somewhat more salubrious location than the grotty, expensive and noisy food court on the lower level.Unfortunately, the Black Cat Cafe is barely a shadow of what cheerful "Leo's" was. The food is mainly bain-marie served fried food, a small range of baked quiche-like options and some quite expensive sandwiches. My daughter's bowl of chips were "okay", but she didn't finish them, and my baked potato (from the bain marie) was stodgy and greasy, although the filling was plentiful. The staff seemed somewhat downtrodden, but polite enough and the cafe was reasonably clean, albeit a bit cramped for another customer who came in using a walking aid. We subsequently came across the far more cheerful-looking Liv-Eat and Chikko's Cafe options on the southern end of the lower level, and wished we'd tried them instead.

I am at least twice per week in the neighbourhood of this cafe but never stopped for a cuppa. This time I took the opportunity to stop for a snack and a mocha. The service was friendly but the lady with her rainbow coloured hair behind the coffee machine took her time with the coffee delivery. However, the recommended biscuit snack and the coffee was excellent.
If they are looking for a bite to eat and a cup of tea, this is the place to go shopping in eastlands.
