The service at Flannerys was quick and efficient, even though we booked at the last minute. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and our meals were served without delay. The prices were reasonable, providing better value than most other pubs in Cong.

My friend and I stopped at Flannery's for lunch on January 14th at 2:30 pm while traveling from Galway to Castlebar. A friendly waitress quickly took our order, and our food arrived promptly. My friend chose the steak sandwich with chips (€13.50), and I had the Cajun salmon with potatoes and carrots (€12). The salmon was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious, although the carrots could have been served warmer. The prices were very reasonable, and we appreciated the restaurant’s COVID-19 safety measures, including hand sanitizer stations, hand gel on the tables, and staff wearing face masks. However, we were a bit disappointed that we weren’t asked for our contact details or to show our COVID certificates and IDs.

Flannery’s has declined in several ways, including service and menu quality. We visited early in the evening and found the staff disorganized. The menu was less extensive than before. Bar staff were also serving food, and one employee repeatedly dropped cutlery on the floor, which was then put back into the drawer without being washed. There was a lot of noise from clattering bottles and ice buckets behind the bar, which wasn't very relaxing. The staff didn’t seem happy or attentive. We had to keep asking for condiments, while locals were given thorough menu explanations, offered every condiment, and engaged in lengthy conversations. It felt like we were neglected and getting a server’s attention was nearly impossible—they seemed to be running around in chaos. When we left, the restaurant was quite empty for a Friday night, which isn’t a good sign. Flannery’s used to be our go-to place, but based on this experience and what we’ve heard from others, we’ll be giving it a miss. I doubt management will pay any attention to this feedback.

I had a reservation for a birthday dinner with a group of six at Flannerys and was a bit concerned after reading some previous reviews. However, I must say we were absolutely impressed. Living in the Midlands and dining out often, including in Dublin, Flannerys stands out as one of the best when it comes to both the menu and service. You’re definitely missing out if you don’t visit. My friends and I are already planning our next trip. Thanks to Flannerys for a fantastic experience!
