Thank you!
The location of this hotel is not the best. Next good areas for food are 15min walking. For drinks and proper nightlife Uber only (San Felipe). Obarrio (where the hotel is) and San Francisco (nearby popular area) are not nice areas to walk the sidewalks don’t exist or are extremely damaged with a lot of trash in the area. The hotel rooms are mostly good/modern and clean. However, the first room I was assigned to smelled like a swamp. For a higher tier room they asked to pay a premium per night (even though there were plenty available and this is not a standard procedure at Marriott typically upgrades are complimentary for platinum and above). The studio/loft had a nice view but there was a dead cockroach in the bathroom. I was offered 30% room price reduction fair. When I wanted to go to sleep, I realized that one sheer light was not turning off by any switch… it was 1am. I had to struggle with the hotel team for an hour, until after an hour they unplugged it. On some days, nobody came over for housekeeping and I had to request it in the evening. All in all, the hotel management didn’t feel “mature”, how everything was handled.
This was my birthday trip as well as my first time traveling solo out of the country and my first time in Panama. Very nice and professional staff. I checked in with Ruben who was fast and gave me the room location near the elevator that I desired. My room was nice, I absolutely love the large bathroom and that shower is to die for. I need that bed to take home It was so comfy I should have asked the brand. Julia and Ivan took care of me at the Marriott welcome happy hour and Ivan definitely looked out for me on my whole trip. They surprised me one day with balloons and dessert and decorations in my room for my birthday. Very thoughtful gesture. There's other restaurants and things right outside of the hotel that I walked to just be careful of traffic. The staff that would be in the hotel lobby was also helpful forgot the name but the one gentleman literally walked me to the outside restaurants. My only cons about the trip I felt the drinks could be stronger, they seemed watered down. I ordered chicken wings but they definitely were not good and really did not taste like chicken to be honest. Very tiny bones unlike a chicken so that was suspicious and the flavor. I also wish the pool stayed open a little bit longer than 6pm. Casino games were not that great And when you cash out you don't get your full amount they take out taxes! That was a horrible surprise. But it gave me something to do when I didn't want to leave the hotel. Couldn't figure out the coffee machine I suggest putting some clearer directions on there In English and perhaps with pictures so didn't get to use it. I also couldn't use a few more English speaking channels on the television. Overall cute hotel and nice stay.
Everything was very nice. Our room was regularly cleaned. The rooms are large and spacious. They were even super helpful with a master unrelated to the hotel. I definitely recommend this hotel.
Overall, it was a good experience. I stayed 1 night, and everything was lovely. I returned a week later for 2 nights and had to change my room due to the smell of mold and mildew. Roderick at the front desk was not pleasant, seemed annoyed, he probably shouldn't work at the front desk.
