I chose the tasting... read more Biko is a modern, minimalist, casual restaurant located in a very good area. The food, a perfect basque-mexican cousine, was very delicious. I chose the tasting menu and called ahead of my reservation to ask if meat could be replaced meat dishes for fish or shellfish, they confirmed so. When we arrived the server called on the maître d ' and he not only graciously re-confirmed my request, but he explained the substitutions. My son decided not to have the tasting menu and instead ordered three dishes. Everything was super delicious. The bread selections were outstanding and they kept coming back to offer warm breads through out the meal. We decided not to have the wine pairings, instead each had a glass of Moet et Chandon, which by the way, was a full glass and more than enough to accompany our meal. The desserts were also delicate and sumptuous. The 6-7 dishes from the tasting menu and the three from the standard menu were all excellent and more than sufficient for a dinner. I just wished that service would have been a little better. We felt that because we didn 't order the wine pairing, they lacked attention to some details, but overall, we recommend Biko, at least if you are a seafood foodie like ourselves.

In my honest opinion, I did not feel that some of the ingredients mixed well, nor did we get a sense of the “contemporary Mexican” cuisine. It seemed that the flavors were all over the place from under salted, to over salted, to fishy and then sour. Pairings were good but we left full yet unsatisfied.

The ambience and decor were lacking a little warmth and liveliness.
