The bunk beds could really use individual reading lights, extra storage, and more privacy. Additionally, the bookshelf area needs some cleaning. Just a heads-up: there’s no elevator available, and the train station is about a 7-minute walk away, but it's in a good location. I felt safe as a solo traveler. Honestly, I found it to be overpriced considering how basic the hostel is. I've experienced much nicer hostels in NYC and other expensive cities where I paid less. With a few upgrades, I would feel more comfortable with the high prices.

This will be my preferred place to stay whenever I visit NYC from now on. If you enjoy the hostel vibe, this is the perfect spot for you.

The toilets and showers are separate from the rooms, which is great because it allows for privacy without disturbing others. Since I had arrived late, I did my best to be quiet, but I understand that some might find that challenging. Just remember, if you’re staying here, be considerate and treat your roommates how you would like to be treated! They also have large lockers available for you to store your backpacks securely, which adds to the overall convenience. I highly recommend this place if you’re a friendly and nice person! As for the rooms, they’re simple and designed for overnight stays, but they are clean and comfortable. A nice feature is that each room has its own bathroom and shower. There’s also a communal area near the front desk where you can socialize, work, or just relax with a drink. Regarding safety, if you’re generally trusting of others, you’ll feel comfortable here. Each room has big lockers for your belongings, which is reassuring. I felt very safe during my stay! As for food and drinks, there is a bar at the entrance, and while I’m not sure about food options, they offer a wide selection of drinks.

Joy at the front desk was very welcoming and accommodating. Unfortunately, I did not have the same experience with management who spoke to me in a rude tone and treated me as an employee rather than a paying guest.
