Very modest place, combining some deli and some Mexican specialties, plus smoothies. Very friendly, very open to modifications (like substituting pastrami for ham in omlet. This is not a fancy place (and they don't have corned beef. Prices very reasonable for this area. View all feedback.
What Jenny T doesn't like about Stage Star Deli:
Went for a pastrami sandwich, because I was in the neighborhood and didn 't want to line up at Katz 's. Don 't be me. Go line up at Katz 's. Pastrami sandwich here was passable we will overlook the guy who asked me if I wanted lettuce and tomatoes!!!!! but salads were fourth rate. And one half of a measly pickle? Come on. Staff friendly but there 's no ambiance other than convenience store. Skip it, especially if you... View all feedback.
**Food: 4.5/5** Evaluating this deli within its category, I found the Reuben sandwich to be outstanding. The portion sizes were generous, and the fries were satisfying. The dressing was delicious as well. The bread had a rye flavor, though it wasn’t marbled, which I thought was unusual. They offered some pre-made paninis and hot bar items that I didn’t get a chance to try. **Ambiance: 4/5** The atmosphere is a classic New York blend of a diner and a deli, with seating for about 15 people. I noticed some young couples on dates, which added a nice touch. It feels like a neighborhood spot, catering more to locals rather than tourists looking for a flashy experience. It was reasonably busy when I arrived (I managed to snag the last seat at 3 PM on a weekday), but I can imagine it gets quite crowded during the lunch rush. **Service: 5/5** The staff was incredibly friendly. They served me honey mustard on the side and were prompt with their service, which I greatly appreciated. **Price: 5/5** Given the current inflation in Manhattan, finding a place to sit down and enjoy a meal in Midtown for under $15 is becoming increasingly rare. This deli is a gem in that regard.
The food here is incredibly bland and overcooked, which is very disappointing. Additionally, the cleaning staff mops the floors while you're dining, making for an unpleasant experience. There's no courtesy; they just mop right by your feet without any warning.
This restaurant is fantastic! The food was outstanding, the prices were reasonable, and the portion sizes were generous. It offers an authentic taste of New York with an extensive menu. If you can't find something you want to eat, you must not be hungry! We ended up dining here three times during our five-day trip to New York.
Good food at a reasonable price; within walking distance of the theater district. Clean operation with a variety of choices. Appears to be frequented by locals.
Huge selection. Great prices and value! Good food. Smoothies for $4.99 M $5.99 L. What a bargain.
