I took some guests out for a nice dinner and had made a reservation ahead of time. However, when a girl called to confirm, I mentioned that my partner and I are getting married and that we might arrive a bit earlier than planned. She simply responded that they were fully booked and asked if I wanted to keep the reservation. There was no congratulations or any further explanation, just a firm "we're booked." I really... I think our waiter was somewhat over-attentive , but I put it down to a desire to please. Overall though, a pleasant way to spend lunch.
