No I am not talking about the one of henry viii. I'm talking about the gastropub in notting hill. as usual for the opposite the pub has a Thai restaurant and there is no exception with walmer castle, nicely laid back traditional pub style down, and above a Thai cuisine world View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Walmer Castle:
I must be missing something We live very local and stopped in for a drink on the way to dinner. With wanted a good cocktail/bar. Its supposed to be a higher end vibe. The bar was sticky, like KPH, or another old boozer. Lots of staff, and yet the service was very slow. The price was a premium, and they measure short. They tried to pour a very precise measure and came below the line, AND THEN PROCEEDED TO SPLASH MUCH... View all feedback.
This restaurant is fantastic! I have been here a few times and here is my opinion: The brunch is tasty and the staff is excellent. The fish and chips are freshly prepared and delicious. Plus, it's the only place in the neighborhood that offers a pint for only 5 pounds!
Exceptional food and service. I highly recommend trying the lobster mac and cheese and artichoke dip! The cocktails are also fantastic.
The best negronis in London, amazing food, and a fantastic atmosphere. An experience rated 11 out of 10.
Unfortunately, the lady that served us at the table was rude and had a really bad attitude. This put us off, so we cancelled our food order and went back to our usual restaurant where the staff are officiant, friendly and welcoming- what you would normally expect from staff in hospitality!
Tried to get into Bill Grainger 's eatery however it was a 50 minute wait for a table. We should have waited. Instead we went around the corner to The Wolmer Castle and were greeted by what looked like a dark haired Bjorke form the Sugar Cubes, but mildly angrier, and certainly not as communicative communicative. We almost felt we were imposing asking for a table which was pointed out to us. Sitting down we were brought a menu hyper-notating links to Scotland and all things rocks and whisky. Being Australians, we were immediately suspicious of course. My daughter ordered the burger as I did, and my wife braved what was described as cheese toasty . After the 40 minute wait for the chef/cleaner/bar person/landlord) food arrived, well the burgers arrived. They had the eye appeal of a seal in labour sadly. constructed by the local plasterer between jobs maybe. They didn 't taste very nice either unfortunately. The cheese toasty then arrived with a half slide into position, served by another of the paid workers presumably? The literal license calling some warm bread and clotted cheese type emulsion was heartening in this world of monitored prose and Social Media. Anything better than describing this concoction better than awful would be generous sadly. It was horrid and inedible. The toasty was 6 PS or $12AUD) The burgers 18 PS or $36AUD) . We should have waited for Bill or gone to Tesco Express and bought some ingredients and made them up ourselves. Sadly, our visit was noted down as a gastronomic indictment on what should be a ripper little place.
