I had a fantastic dining experience with excellent service at this restaurant! The interior has an old pub feel, but the food is far from typical pub fare. I ordered the chicken sandwich, which was perfectly portioned and delicious. View all feedback.
What MaPeacetravels doesn't like about The Sanctuary Pub:
The restaurant was busy around 3 pm, but there were still some free tables available. When asked, it was acceptable to choose any available table. I waited patiently, as did the customers at the table next to me who were already seated when I arrived. Although lack of a greeting is tolerable in a pub, some form of acknowledgment from the staff would have been appreciated. After waiting for 17 minutes with no one in s... View all feedback.
This was the first restaurant I visited in the UK with my family. I ordered the fish and chips, which was good. Another family member ordered bangers and mash, which they enjoyed, while another ordered the chicken but was not satisfied with it. The restaurant kindly replaced it. The restaurant seemed busy, especially because of its hotel and location. My food was good but a bit bland. I would have preferred more seasoning on the fish to really bring out the flavor. The portion size was generous and I could not finish it. The restaurant had a lovely ambiance.
We enjoyed multiple dinners and a breakfast at this restaurant. The traditional pub food was always delicious, and the service was consistently quick and welcoming.
I live in the UK and came to London for business. While I appreciate good British hospitality, food, and beer, I was not impressed with this restaurant. I was looking forward to trying their best pie offering, the "slow braised beef ale", but was disappointed with what I received. The pie had a thick layer of mashed potatoes on top of a thin layer of meat gravy, which was not a good representation of a traditional British pie. I was very dissatisfied with my £38 meal.
The food was splendid! We had the 2 person Pie Sharing Board. It was all delicious. The roast, chicken, and sweet potato vegetable were our favorite pies. The mashed potatoes and sliced potatoes were very tasty. For desert, we had the Blackberry crumble with ice cream for two people. It, too, was amazing. We would go back there without hesitation. The London Pride Beer Cask was very good, as well.
The mini pies were a great way to sample different pies. The scotch egg was cooked perfectly. Nice staff as well.
