While some dishes may underwhelm—such as dry steak and bland fries—the cheerful atmosphere and friendly service often make up for it. Patrons rave about the hearty pub classics, like burgers and vegetarian options, complemented by a fine selection of ales. Whether you're enjoying a sunny afternoon in the beer garden or marvelling at the unique decor, this pub promises a charming experience that’s worth a visit.
We made a reservation for dinner. We arrived and found a little side room with tables sat aside for people who reserved a table. The room was close enough to the action in the bar while allowing for a bit more breathing room than if you were sitting directly in it. There were no waiters, you ordered drinks and food at the bar, and they brought them to your table. The food was delicious, way better than I was expecting. Pub food in the UK is much better than bar food in the U.S. The bangers and mash were fantastic, best I had during my entire trip. My boyfriend had the fish and chips, which he thought was better than some of the chippies that we tried. If you are planning on coming for dinner, I would recommend a reservation, the bar was packed, with the crowd overflowing to the outside.
Fantastic all around! Quite literally the best service I have ever experienced! The staff were professional and so unbelievably fast in their work. Food was spectacular especially for how simple it was. Mickey was our server and she was a superstar!! The sheer history along with the service was second to none, honestly a wonderful memory for all of us.
A gem of a pub. Found it by chance while on holiday and loved it. It is a small beautiful place with fabulous decoration in the arts and crafts style. We went initially for a drink and the ambience was great so decide to go for dinner. We were lucky getting a table as it was very busy. the menu was good and we opted for the lentil cottage pie with vegetables which was delicious. The service was very good and our waiter Lester was great he was pleasant and professional. The bill was reasonable so all in all a lovely experience
Spent a few hours here inside and in the adjacent beer garden watching the Lord Mayor’s Show parade pass by. Lovely characterful pub with great atmosphere and selection of ales and beer. A group of Morris Dancers added to the quirkiness by singing some old traditional songs inside. Amazing.
What an absolute brilliant pub. Just got back from a long weekend in London with my husband. We firstly had drinks here but quickly decided to go back for dinner and we weren’t disappointed. The fish and chips and the bangers and mash were off the scale amazing
