Patrons can enjoy a wide selection of German beers and hearty traditional dishes, from schnitzels to currywurst. Despite occasional service delays and mixed experiences with specific menu items like the apple strudel, many commend the quality of food and the overall dining experience. While it suits larger groups, diners with dietary restrictions may face challenges, as highlighted by some. Overall, the venue is well-regarded for a fun night out filled with good food and drink. A great spot for post-work relaxation!.
This is a fantastic restaurant. The food and service is first class. We had the pork knuckle and sausages with sauerkraut which was all amazing. We had a dumpling on the side which was amazing. I would recommend that as it comes with a nice...gravy. The staff are really friendly and the atmosphere is really authentically German. Will be back
Really great place to eat and drink. Friendly staff food was hot and tasty we will be going back to try more from the menu
As my family lives in Germany and we go there often I was delighted to find the Beer Hall close to Liverpool Street Station. I have eaten in many BierHaller in Dresden, Munich, Augsburg and Stuttgart and they are always good value. Atmosphere depends on when you go and yesterday lunchtime was somewhat quiet, but I suspect that is not always the case when the band starts up. A good selection on the menu, and I had chicken schnitzel and my colleague the sausage plate. Both were good and the chips so much better than the skinny frites you usually get in Germany. Sauce in a pot was a good idea too.The Strudel however, which we both had, was very poor. Flat pastry and not a sultana in sight, on a plate swimming with cream. Strudel is best with ice cream, but Coppenrath Weise or even Tesco it was not. We had the rose, which was German and ok and the service was satisfactory.
I went to a booking organised for a work team social and had a very bad experience. I would not recommend this venue for any group that includes some vegetarians/vegans/non-pork eaters. The lead organiser of our group called the restaurant in days in advance to confirm the number of vegetarians/vegans within the group and any other dietary requirements. When the food platters arrived, they were placed on the table with no explanation of what the food was (one of the dishes looked like breaded chicken so people were confused) and the waitress was avoiding providing us with anything but the bare minimum service. We were later told, rudely, by the waitress that no request for some vegetarian/no pork dishes had been made in advance. It then took more than mins for the kitchen staff to prepare food for those people. It appeared to be a burden for the staff to accommodate the dietary requirements. Later in the evening, I observed the manager shout at the lead organiser in my group, and accused her of lying about calling in advance, which was uncomfortable and ruined the evening.
Close to Liverpool Station, we have visited twice when in London, mainly as the menu had immediate appeal for my German spouse. Having said that we both enjoyed schnitzels with fries/potato salad and mushroom sauce. There's also a special lunch menu if you are there...before p.m. We ate here in the afternoon so used the bar area at the entrance. On our second visit the staff member was far more proactive and welcoming than the first visit. Great value and something different. I'm sure the Cellar Bar would be lively later in the day- maybe another time.
