If you’re in the area just go and buy yourself some lunch and eat it down by the Thanes. You won’t regret it. Huge hand made sandwiches that cost a fraction more than the ready packed ones in M&S and taste divine. I had the salt beef on white, so yummy. Highly recommended! View all feedback.
What Robsski doesn't like about Basils:
Dropped in for a late bacon sarnie at about 10am and was very disappointed. They remicrowaved some dry cold bacon and succeeded in burning the white bread toast. An unmitigated disaster and I should have refused to pay. No brown sauce either. Rubbish! View all feedback.
During our trip to London in September 2023, we came across positive reviews on Tripadvisor for Basils restaurant. We decided to try their breakfast and were not disappointed. Despite being reasonably priced, the food was delicious and the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. They offer a wide selection of sandwiches for both breakfast and lunch. While there is limited seating available, we opted for takeout and enjoyed our meal back at the hotel. Overall, we had a great experience and highly recommend Basils to others.
We ordered two rolls, one with cheese and one with ham, which were a bit pricey but freshly made. The cappuccino was also expensive, but it was very large. Just be sure to double-check the prices as they sometimes make mistakes.
I visited this place which does not look welcoming at all. I wanted to try the food since there is always a long queue of people getting food from there. I ordered a chicken escalope sandwich and paid £6.90 for it. Its too pricey. I could have gone to the food stalls and get something more filling for even less money. I hence do not recommend it. There are other sandwich shops around there, which are a lot better.
I’ve had various sandwiches over recent weeks as Basils is located next to my office. All sandwiches have been served on fresh bread, packed with fillings. Staff are excellent at reacting to customers with speed so their small shop isn’t left to bursting. My only disappointing was when trying one of their jacket potatoes. Other similar sandwich shops serve there’s with a side of salad, there’s come without and it’s simply an average sized potato. A tasty potato is made a struggle from their clear deep takeaway style container so i had to eat at a weird angle to ‘access’. cheap easily breakable cutlery struggled against the delicious crispy skin. The clear container almost made a less than appealing looking potato as my potato sat in a pool of melted cheese and butter. Taste was great but delivery not the best.
