Lovely little wine bar, ideal for a relaxed evening with friends. I didn’t see the upper floor and can’t comment about the food but the very reasonably priced bottle of wine and the cheese board were just what we needed after dinner elsewhere. The only negative is that the night we visited it was rather heavy on the American tourist side, and we really struggled hearing each other amongst people shouting at each othe... View all feedback.
What louisc doesn't like about Antidote Wine Bar:
Good food, at rather small but appropriate portions. Excellent wine list, but most of the more interesting bottles are kept in a display stand at the entrance, good for showing off but in suboptimal (too warm/too bright) conditions. This didn 't affect the bottle we opened however. My real issue is with their business practices. An optional 12,5% service charge was added to my bill without informing me or asking my p... Antidote is a beautiful, no-nonsense weinbarable where they can get good wee through the glass along with cheese and wood charcoal. but if you are on the upper floor, you will also find a great restaurant. I went to lunch with my mother and was not too sure if I had made the right decision to start with it. first, the menu in this increasingly popular hipster style was laid a simple list of ingredients instead of the actual dishes. Secondly, it was two thirds empty we stuck on it and, although we do not really know how our tellers would look like food, we were very pleasantly surprised. eating is simply delicious, with aromen that work perfectly together. The presentation...read more
Last weekend I escaped the bleeding (new word) of scarborough and revitalized my soul with london. antidote wine bar lives up to its name willing, and delivered the necessary antidote to a poisonous day filled with mouthful travel and frantic bush around the city trying to find formal dresses to carry on board the queen mary 2. the antidote, embedded in the magnificent track of soho, served elegant food and amazing weine, all hand-picked with carefree. there are no random crying.
Salt march lamb was served wonderfully pink but had been properly rested so didn’t have a hint of blood – again, the presentation was beautiful with the lamb sitting amidst bottle green cucumber puree and pungent wild garlic leaves; the soft texture of the lamb nicely paired with crispy anchovy powder. To finish, chocolate moelleux with passion fruit sorbet was underwhelming but still fairly tasty – I think the majority of the creativity had been poured into the first three courses.
I'm always on the hunt for two things when choosing a restaurant in London. If it's not for a special occasion or random splurge then i always look for the underdog. That restaurant who goes relatively undiscovered and also one which represents great value for money. Antidote Wine Bar just off Carnaby Street ticks both boxes. I've been walking past this popular little restaurant for a couple of years now, always telling myself I'd pop in, but never did. Just as i decided to head down in February they'd closed for a refurbishment just my luck. But then i heard a rumour, and got a little excited. After a little research on the Internet i discovered that not only was the refurb revealing...read more
Good food, rather small but reasonable portions. Excellent wine list, but most of the more interesting bottles are kept in a display stand at the entrance, good to perform, but in suboptimal (too warm/to light) conditions. That didn't affect the bottle we opened. My real problem is with her business practices. An optional 12.5% service fee has been added to my bill without informing me or requesting my permission. The bill came around her business card with the briefing on the inside. Not yet before I added an optional fee without being asked about it, I paid without any questions. I just learned when I arranged my things at home. I sent the restaurant via email, but I had no answer yet. I am looking forward to addressing this.
