It was a Monday and many of the resturants were shut. We hadn't been to the Haute Serre before but it looked OK so we booked for 6 people. The Chateau was very pleaseant and the tables were not to close. The food was excellent...and reasonably priced. Will add this to our list of restaurants to go to. View all feedback.
What Marcelle Barbe doesn't like about La Table de Haute-Serre:
On our way from Sarlat to Toulouse on a Sunday and interested in Cahors wines and good food, we found the Chateau de Haute-Serre. After several GPS dead-ends, we finally found the beautiful Chateau and restaurant on the hilltop at where the signs on...the door said it should be open and the web site still saying it was open. The dog was barking and cars were parked behind Private signs but everything was closed and n... View all feedback.
This has proven to be a really good addition to the local restaurant scene. the location is beautiful, a walk from the viewpoint to the restaurant at a time during your visit. eating and ambiente are just as good. this is a modern restaurant, with respect to its decor and its kitchen. whether they eat inside or outside, tables are well spaced and from a reasonable size, chairs are comfortable and the shiny surface outside well enough compressed, not to feel as they immerse. the cooking style is modern and the eating is well cooked and well presented. the selection is limited, but the menus well developed to handle with most taste. the employees are pleasant and efficient and live on the need to deal with both dietary preferences and allergies. portion size makes sense. the wine list favors the wine of the owner (of haute serre and elsewhere) and many are available from the glass. all in all a wonderful place for lunch or dinner.
Went to the chateau for lunch with a small group of friends. It’s set in a beautiful location and the grounds leading up to the chateau were immaculate. The welcome we received was so friendly and welcoming. Every member of staff was polite but friendly...and couldn’t do enough to ensure we had everything we needed. The food was excellent. There was a varied menu and every dish was beautifully made and presented. This was my first experience of the chateau and I WILL be back. Thanks to everyone at the chateau for a marvellous few hours. Merci beaucoup.
We booked a visit of the winery followed by an evening meal in the restaurant. The visit was very informative and the guide was friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He also spoke fluent English which made the experience even better. We also got to taste a couple of Malbec wines. The restaurant offers a choice of set menus. We went for the most expensive menu which offered a choice of 2 starters/ 2 mains/ 2 desserts. As we wanted to try everything, my partner and I ordered different starters/ mains/ desserts. And every single dish was delicious! With our meal, we also tried the rose and white wine made in the winery and both were stunning! The food was sophisticated without being pretentious, the service was good and the staff friendly. And all this in a stunning location. Highly recommended.
We had reservations for lunch after our visit to Pech Merle. The meal did not disappoint. We enjoyed a bottle of local wine with our meal. The service was excellent and we enjoyed a pleasant meal with friends. My only disappointment was the weather did not allow us to tour the winery. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area.
We booked a visit to the winery and dinner via the sister Chateau, Chateau du Mercues. The vineyard visit was excellent and we learnt a lot about the area and making Malbec wine. It was not rushed at all and included a tasting of the wonderful wines, which we had to get, they were so good. Dinner did not disappoint either, beautifully presented and very good indeed. The service was exceptional, thank you.
