I was quiet happy with my experience at Frankies. Staff was pleasant and as helpful as we asked them to be. Food was well prepared with attention to presentation which I appreciate. The sauces were all incredible and paired very well with the dishes we ordered. The short rib and the carbonara were the favorites. If I “had” to make a critique it would just be that the meat temperatures were a little over done but noth... View all feedback.
What C doesn't like about Glasshouse And Grill:
For an older Hotel the room was ok. No fan in bathroom so steams up while showering. Room service was good but the food was inadequate. The beefcheek stew was the worse. It was like it had been frozen and reheated. NOT GOOD View all feedback.

Wonderfully speedy service even before 5.30 yes we were very early. Delicious tender squid starter and fall off the bones lamb shanks and ribs very flavourful. Green vegetables super bright and crispy corn a little tired send slaw a bit bland. Nevertheless definitely recommend.
No water at the table as we were seated and no drinks menu provided. The cutlery was wrapped in what appears to be napkins left over from a child's birthday party. The entree we purchased was the cheesy garlic bread and that was regretted as soon as it came out to the table. It appeared as though they'd purchased the cheapest garlic bread from the nearest super market and grated a miniscule of cheese on top, not to mention it tasted slightly undercooked. For my main I purchased the steak and requested medium rare and it came out as burnt and tasteless (I don't recommend ordering the gravy for your steak as it was stuck inside the container). For dessert I ordered the sticky date pudding and out came a sticky date cake slice with a minimal amount of sauce quite underwhelming. The service was lovely though but not lovely enough to repair the damage that was done. Just a heads up that I went using first table and would never go to this particular establishment again and I feel bad for anyone whose ever paid full price for their food. Also, if you want to split your cheque on first table, don't come here as apparently this cannot be done.
Bit of a mixed bag. Steak came back way undercooked at first (ordered medium rare and got almost blue steak) BUT staff were happy to cook it more and came back with a whole new hot plate of food with it which was nice. I had the chicken burger (burger of the day) chicken patty was very tasty but only had lettuce carrot and mayo in the burger so was quite a simple burger and more bread than filling. Did get a decent glass of wine though quite a bit in a glass compared to some places. Overall, wasn’t bad, but didn’t love it and probably won’t come back.
Nice little Bar attached to the Thorndon Hotel. Very amicable polite and accomodating fellows working the bar. Pleasant place to sit and socialise with good company. I’d happily return. Not overcrowded and hurried. I liked it it here.
