It's my childhood dream to be able to dine in a pokemon themed cafe and this made my dreams come true! Really love the atmosphere and the performance by the dancing Pikachu, supported by an energetic crew. I know its catered more for children but I don't care, this experience makes me feel like a child all over again! Although I have to say that the food can be served warmer!
This was my favourite themed cafe we went to in Tokyo! The food was very delicious and the whole cafe was extremely cute! I loved that you could place your order by a tablet on the table and you could keep ordering things as long as it wasn’t 30 minutes prior to the time your reservation ends. I found the prices not terrible for a themed cafe either. I expected much worse honestly. Would absolutely go again!
WE MADE IT! The atmosphere of the cafe was fun and the mix of 30 year old foreigners like us and little japanese kids was great! Got in right away because we had reservations were about 5mins late. The staff member was helpful and excited and we got our goodie bag right away. The food felt more for kids, but it was tasty, though not very filling, so I'd recommend a fancy drink, main and dessert. The desserts were lovely, tasty parfait or light cake with great flavours. Pikachu did a little dance which was fun and silly. The staff, bless them had to keep their cute levels up all day, they are troopers! The place is well decorated. We paid on card. This is a MUST for pokemon fans.
It is hard to explain this to a Pokémon fan, but Pokémon Cafe is overrated. Food is mediocre, show childish, and well I have to admit the food presentation is amazing. We reserved a moth before, I was lucky because for my time I should have stay awake at 5 am to make the reservations it opens at 6 pm Japan time 30 days before the date you want) but I search on the website like 3 hours after and I found one spot at noon the same day we arrive at Kyoto. So I took it. When we arrived it was 1/4 empty, they rejected people that were in line and they didn’t have reservations, but idk why. Decor is beautiful with a lot of details.
It was very cute and Pikachu came out to dance at one point. The food wasn 't bad, but it wasn 't fantastic either. You can eat a lot better for much less, but it was still fun and we were glad we went. There is a game you can play (you just pick a square on a tablet) to coaster (a thin plastic square) for every drink order. Ordering is done on a tablet so language isn 't a problem, and you can make orders after too. They forgot my meal order, so it came out late. They were very sorry and gave me some stickers as an apology. You really should make a reservation online before you come. Reservations open 30 days out. If you already have a reservation, you can wait in the line on the left that goes into the cafe instead of the big line. I did see some people manage to get in without a reservation, but one family couldn 't all go in and only managed to get two of them in for just 30 minutes or something like that.
