The Baobao House - Christchurch

We have ordered takeout from Bao Bao 3-4 times since moving to the area, and each time we have been extremely impressed with the delicious, freshly cooked food. I have a gluten allergy, so I called to confirm my meal options, and they were very helpful in addressing my concerns. Unlike typical Chinese takeout that tends to taste greasy and unhealthy to me, this food is fresh, flavorful, and clearly distinguished. Some of our favorite dishes include crispy seaweed and sticky crispy beef with Kung Po sauce. Unfortunately, they were out of beef last time, but they recommended chicken strips with the Kung Po sauce instead, and it was just as delicious. Although slightly more expensive than traditional takeout, it is definitely worth it for the incredible food. Additionally, all of their ingredients are ethically sourced, and the meals are served in recyclable cardboard or compostable packaging, which is a huge bonus.

What a delightful takeout experience!! Everything was so fresh and delicious! I tried the tofu satay with noodles and it was fantastic. I usually feel a bit bloated after a large Asian takeout meal, but I didn't feel that way after this meal. I will definitely be ordering from here more often!

Had the meat selection and crispy beef... It was soooo good. The amazing naughty Chinese takeaway feeling without the bloating after. Service was fantastic can't be beaten

Absolutely delicious food, freshly prepared and cooked. Especially good vegan options too. Tried chicken, pork and vegan dishes and all were amazing, fresh and totally yummy. The lady who both took our phone order and cooked our meal was so cheerful and friendly. Highly recommend this place.

Absolutely love this place. Can’t believe someone put a bad review as this little gem is amazing. Time and time again.
