I took my daughter and son-in-law to this restaurant for lunch and we were impressed with the slow-cooked short ribs, which melted in our mouths. The lamb with potatoes was also delicious, and there were many other options to choose from. The service was excellent, but the restaurant was very busy, so I recommend making a reservation for the next visit. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Four Horseshoes:
the service was pretty slow. we were there about an hour when the main course was served, although we had started in the meantime. overall the meal lasted about an hour and half and allowed us no time for a dessert or coffee. there were not many customers. I had blown three times in the morning after 11, but nobody answered. very short, it seems. eating was good, the usual high standard. View all feedback.
I have had better fish and chips before. Some of the chips still seemed frozen in the middle, and the fish was definitely the smallest I have ever had in a pub restaurant.
The Sunday roast at Four Horseshoes was very good, and the fruit crumble was also delicious. However, the bakewell tart was a disappointment. It was served cold instead of warm, with a dry cake center and minimal ground almonds. The icing on top made it unappetizing and not worth the high price of over £7. The portion size was also small for the price, resulting in a total cost of over £56 for what seemed like 8 small pieces of cake. This was a disappointing experience and Four Horseshoes can definitely improve on their dessert offerings.
The service at this restaurant was very welcoming and efficient, creating a pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, the lighting was too low, making it difficult to read the menu. Our 13-year-old granddaughter loved her Whole Bream dish, but the poor lighting made it hard to see the fish bones, causing some concern for her safety. The food was tasty and served in generous portions. The container for fries was charming, but they would stay warm longer in a closed container. The desserts were outstanding, with the crème brûlée being the best I've had in a long time. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our evening at this restaurant.
The perfect setting for a Sunday roast, staff and surroundings were fabulou, would definitely recommend.
Brilliant food, great staff, lovely atmosphere definitely recommend
