Restaurant discovery Sunday. Very good food. The Norwegian omelet is a treat! Friendly welcome and very professional service. Small terrace overlooking a square. Interior decorated with taste. I recommend this restaurant View all feedback.
What Louise Maillet doesn't like about Au Chapeau Rouge:
The Foie Gras as starter was really good, but the main course was a joke. I had a Supreme de Pigeonneau which was one (1) very small leg of a squab with rather thick skin at the end there were three (3) small bites...of meat. According to some kitchen dictionnaries a supreme should be a filet or breast without skin. The desert Omelette Norvegienne was ok but nothing special, finally a kind of an Omelette Surprise. Th... Beautiful restaurant of the main square in chinon. they have a vegetarian menu and also a low child menu, which is the same as the adult menu with half portion
Au chapeau rouge came highly recommended, the menus on the website looked good and the prices were reasonable so that we booked for a table for two to dinner during our stay in the opposite. the restaurant is located near the Rathaus and has a parking space close to it. The waitress, who welcomed us friendly and efficient and worked very hard all night to cheer all the tables, including a particularly complicated customer, who wanted to have a lot of attention. as bib gourmand they have a selection of fixed price menus from entree, haupt, dessert and optional cheese course. we were for the four courses. our entrées of rind carpaccio and marinaded muscheln were beautiful, well presented and quite hearty. the main parts of sturgeon and pigs were again beautiful, not as pretily presented, but still tasty. the cheese course was the highlight, with goat cheese two away and pears. on the other hand, dessert was a catastrophe for me. I didn't really like the sound of the choice and chose what I thought would be the worst. but it didn't work for me at all, fortunately I have a partner ready to eat two desserts, otherwise my chocolate thing would have remained uneaten. I don't understand why the chef would serve over the top after three already very generous curses. it was a pity to end on such a note because the rest of the meal was quite good
Recommended where we eat 5 minutes to foot, 2 hours super dinner. by taste at price? ambience and service, we found it errorless. can't recommend it better and one has to visit if in chinon
Good food but be ready to wait! Terrible understaffed service. From the moment we arrived at requested time it took one hour to get our starter.
Beautiful setting for their EU35 Four Course Luncheon which was all delicious. Tom who was the main guy on the floor is a perfectionist- very nice gentleman indeed. I loved the whole experience and would not hesitate to recommend
