Enjoyed a Saturday lunch with family at this pub. Amazing variety of menu items on offer and all the choices we made were very tasty and well prepared. Excellent level of friendly service. Pub was a little on the cold side when we arrived, but it was an extremely cold and windy day. View all feedback.
What Keith Watson doesn't like about The Potters Arms:
I usually read all the positive reviews, but I had a disappointing meal at this restaurant. The staff were friendly enough, but the pizza was soggy and the chips were overcooked. The ribs were large, but lacking in flavor, and the sauce was a bit basic. The service felt a bit overwhelming, perhaps because they were understaffed. We had made a reservation for a table for two (for our anniversary) based on a recommendation from a friend to try out the Potters Arms. We arrived ahead of time and decided to have a drink at the bar before our meal. The atmosphere was lively, with a wake taking place. Unfortunately, the clientele seemed very young, likely there for a while, and the music was loud and more suited for a party atmosphere. We eventually found the "restaurant" area, which was basically a room connected to the bar with no door and still very noisy. When we informed the staff about our reservation, they led us to our table, which was set up for the wake with sandwiches on a long table. They said they would quickly clear the area and lower the music. This was not what we were expecting at all. They mentioned that they had only received the booking for the wake a few days prior, implying they were more concerned about maximizing their profits from the event. We were disappointed and decided to cancel our reservation. It seemed like they were not too concerned about losing our business, as they were focused on keeping their bar revenue up. Overall, this experience has made us hesitant to return in the future.

The ribs were large, but lacking in flavor, and the sauce was a bit basic. The service felt a bit overwhelming, perhaps because they were understaffed. The dining room was not very cozy, with a wobbly table and a loud neighboring table making it hard to have a conversation. I hate writing negative reviews, as I want all restaurants to succeed, but my experience did not match the reviews. The outdoor terrace looked nice for warmer days, so maybe we just caught them on an off night.
Recently, The Potters Arms hosted a wake for my mother and did a fantastic job. The staff were discreet, yet professional, and went above and beyond to cater to our needs. The buffet was tasty and plentiful, and all of our guests mentioned how much they enjoyed the event despite the somber occasion. I highly recommend this venue.

Another brilliant comedy night, Scott Bennett! Very funny, haven't laughed that much In ages and his supporting act was class too. Food in the interval was as always amazing. Well done to a really well run event.
