This is one of the most beautiful campsites in Florida. I was in Genie Springs for Camping, but Manatee is underestimated and I think it's better than most sources and campsite. We are here to visit early June. We didn't see any manates, but when we arrived at 9:00. we were glad that there was hardly anyone in the park. It was $6 per car to park here and it looks like there are many campsites here. The trees are beautiful and offer plenty of shade from the hot sun. Dogs are not allowed in many places near the sources, but they are allowed in the water only at the boat dock. Our dog loved to blow his toes in the water. The water was nice and quiet in the early morning. Very refreshing on a hot day. We're safe back here!
Overview: This is one of the best sources on the west coast of Florida. It has everything: camping RV and tent, swimming, playground, picnic area and hiking. There is a private company that borrows canoes and kayaks. What to know: There is an RV site and a camping site. You can camp on the RV side. You cannot start a boat from the park, but there is a ramp not far to do this. You can dock a boat at the entrance of the park directly in front of the tub. Bathrooms and showers on the campsite and next to spring. The floating area is only allowed on the spring head. A good amount of hiking and cycling trails. I know there was a snack snack snack and a shop next to the springhead at a time. However, the shop is no longer there, and I didn't see the snack snack snack rack opened during my visit.
Nice park to take the sources. A great boardwalk to the areas. I saw a few manates and a gator. Water is very clear! Many birds too. Great picnic places. Tidy and well maintained. Some people swim in spring. Easy access with steps to the water.
There is a beautiful boardwalk from the springs to the Suwanee River. Manatee swim up to the springs. There are observation decks along the way to watch the Manatee swim to the springs. You can rent kayaks to get a better views of the manatee. It is great for bird watching also. There is a swim area. You can snorkel and scuba dive. There is a underwater cave system you can explore. There are 8.5 miles of hiking trails. Bike trails connect to local biking trails too. To see our adventures subscribe to SIMPLE LIFE BIG ADVENTURES on YouTube.
