What a little gem this place is. The owner and his staff are super friendly and helpful. The food is amazing quality. The range of cheese, superb. And Costa Rica coffee! We were staying nearby and stopped for coffee cake. We came back for lunch the next day. We bought coffee beans cheese chilli jam too. We’d visit daily if we lived here! View all feedback.
What JWJD1960 doesn't like about The Granary Bakery:
Sat outside the Bakery, in the sun, and had a delicious toasted cheese sandwich and coffee for lunch. The service was very prompt and the food tasty and good value. Whilst we were there, a lone cyclist was sent packing as they did not want to park an expensive bike out of sight. This lack of customer consideration, has reduced my rating to a four overall. Midhurst really benefits from having this small restaurant on the High Street, where I have always received a friendly welcome. The food is outstanding, especially the Tartiflette, but the salmon quiche is also exceptional. It offers a true taste of France and is exactly what we need in the aftermath of Brexit.
The manager at this French restaurant is extremely rude. Despite being a regular customer and living in Midhurst, I received poor service on 8 July when I was served a half cup of cold coffee instead of a café crème by a new assistant. When I complained, the manager did not listen and was unapologetic. He even gave me attitude when I expressed my dissatisfaction. It is clear that he has a problem keeping staff, as two French-speaking friends who worked for him left due to his difficult behavior. I also heard from friends in Haslemere that he had a reputation for not paying his bills. His rude and aggressive attitude on 8 July was completely unnecessary, and all he had to do was apologize and make me a fresh, hot café crème. I will not be returning to this restaurant and do not recommend it to others.

The review for Midhurst Bakery is not favorable. The reviewer claims that the bakery no longer bakes their own bread and instead outsources it in small quantities. They also criticize the overpriced "artisan" products and call the bakery "absolutely rubbish" since the new French proprietor took over and they moved downtown. The reviewer recommends going to Fitzcane's or Gartons instead. In conclusion, they state that Midhurst Bakery sucks.
