Have used this place before and the food and service is always excellent. Good atmosphere in a really nice setting. the brunch menu is very comprehensive and in particular the smashed Avocado really tasty. A good place for informal business meetings I will return. View all feedback.
What Tanya Gregory doesn't like about The Deck:
Lovely location, not been for years seen to and served drinks right away but disappointed with long wait to take order food fairly quick to come out though. A prawn and salmon salad which was overwhelmed with lettuce and only one slither of cucumber which I would have expected more of as it was stated on the menu. Overall disappointing for a main meal cost. Service: Dine in View all feedback.
Great location on a sunny day unfortunately it wasn't for us can't change the weather! The staff were welcoming and attentive. The menu choices were excellent. Me and my brother both chose fish and chips. The service was very slow and when they eventually arrived they ok! The battery was crisp but the fish unfortunately slightly over cooked. The few crushed peas were dry and not worth putting on the plate. The skin on fries and tartar sauce were the best bit!!
My young daughter and her friend have just visited the Deck and spent over an hour awaiting their order. What should have been a pleasurable experience was in fact not so nice. They left having witnessed the adjacent table being reimbursed for their wait. Yet they waited longer to be served. They paid the bill without saying a word as embarrassed youngsters do (15 17 year olds) As teenagers I’m sure that you’ll agree that money is hard to earn and precious to them. But the service is also a key factor irrespective of age. Really disappointed that what was to have been a special treat, which they had saved up for, ended up being a long wait and more expensive than planned as they ended up buying extra drinks to fill in the time. No response from the deck when I emailed them to advise them our dissatisfaction!
Sadly, the Deck has downgraded from a fine restaurant, almost always full, to a café under the new management. The food choice has been severely reduced. The fish and chips, whilst good, was a very small portion. I had this because their famous burger is no longer on the menu. The wine choice has also been much reduced to 2 whites, 2 reds, a rose and Prosecco. If you go, its a fine café and location and you will probably enjoy it. If you remember it as it was , you won't. The fact that on the hottest day of the year it wasn't even half full speaks to me that the regular clientele have left.
Lovely breakfast ! Great price, choice between small and full English breakfast, nice view and very kind staff, parking on site!
Very accommodating staff, busy father's day lunch session, we wanted for nothing. My father lived in France for many years and was seriously impressed with the mussels. Reasonably priced good lunch menu. Shame they don't serve dinner.
