While some guests rave about the excellent service and standout dishes, such as the steak and ale pie, others lament disappointing meals, citing bland vegan options and insufficient portions. The welcoming, accommodating staff have garnered praise, especially from families. Despite a few complaints about ambiance, including lighting and background music, the pub's charming atmosphere and beautiful terraced garden make it an inviting stop. With potential for improvement, many patrons express a desire to return, drawn by the overall warm experience.
We took a circular walk from the Lavington Common National Trust Car Park and stopped at The Black Horse Inn for lunch. We were thoroughly impressed by the pub, the friendly welcome, exceptional staff, and delicious food! I highly recommend giving it a try. We will definitely be returning. I celebrated my 70th birthday with a party of 15 people at this restaurant and everything was perfect. We had a great time and I would highly recommend the Crème Brûlée, Lemon Posset, Sticky Toffee Pudding, and Chargrilled Rumpsteak Burger.
This great team pulled out all the stops to allow 2 extra guests to join our party on a busy Sunday. Food was delicious and service friendly and helpful. A fantastic little pub, so glad we found it! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Beautiful pub with lovely terraced garden overlooking river at the back. Only two ales on but the T.E.A. was well kept (the other was Youngs Ordinary). An enjoyable stop for a drink in sunshine, food looked good too. Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
