Description

Nestled behind the car park and boating lake in Selsey, Nice Plaice has long been a go-to spot for locals craving traditional fish and chips. Despite recent price hikes and smaller portions sparking concerns, many still rave about the freshly cooked offerings and excellent service. Diners commend the crisp, skinless batter on the fish and flavorful, generously sized chips. While waits may be expected, they affirm it's worth it. With outdoor seating and a friendly atmosphere, this chippy invites visitors to enjoy their meal while watching the ducks at a nearby pond, solidifying its status as a cherished community favorite.

As expected. Portions are really big. Fish well cooked. Nice thing is you can order and go in the park nearby to eat. I put 3 for ambiance because it is a takaway (so this rating means nothing) store so I can't really rate. Point of improvment : maybe fry the chips a little bit more.

Ordered sausage and chips, staff were friendly and I got my food after a short wait. The only downside was it was cash only. Food was hot and tasty. Would recommend .

It's a chip shop and a bloody good one. Selsey is spoilt for choice for fish and chip shops with a grand total of four, but this is the one we use most. Great food.

Freshly made and perfectly cooked chips came in a neat and easy to use paper hat. Nice and crisp with lots of flavour. The option to salt and vinegar them myself allowed me to season perfectly to my taste. No need to ask for a wooden fork, just help yourself. Outside seating available and the locals seem to like to use the low wall as a seat which makes the whole experience more authentic. I didn't get to try anything other than chips from the menu, but I hope to try more options soon.

Someone else wrote traditional fish and chips if that 's what you 're after and gave a score of 3/5. I 'd agree with the description but give 'em 5/5! A chippie with a queue is a good thing because locals know where to go. You have to wait here for a little while but it 's not unreasonable. When your food arrives it 's as fresh as you could wish for and you 've just watched it being cooked. They take the skin off the fish! That makes a big difference to some of us. Carefully prepared. Crispy. Good portions, Fair prices. Fresh. Hot. Yummy. Job done. Atmosphere? In a chippie?? Takeaway?? Staff are polite and civil and take your order and move on to the next customer. While you wait you have a little banter with other punters and it 's all friendly. You don 't have to wait too long. Traditional fish and chips, if that 's what you 're after and done very well.
