What Darren Martin doesn't like about Farmer Butcher Chef:
I’m sorry to say that we had a truely disgusting meal last night. The portions are laughably small and extremely expensive. The pork belly was rubbery, cold and not cooked properly, the lamb a fatty cheap cut not good at all. We won’t be...back. View all feedback.
The restaurant served an excellent Sunday lunch with a first-rate staff. The decor was interesting and the diners were quietly spoken.
We have dined at The Goodwood Hotel in the past, but this was our first visit to Farmer, Butcher, Chef. The restaurant had a relaxed atmosphere with charming, farm-themed decorations. The staff were incredibly helpful and not at all pushy. We both enjoyed the steak and chips, which were delicious. A bottle of Rioja and a cheesecake for dessert rounded out a fantastic meal of locally sourced food. We highly recommend this restaurant.
"Incredible food and excellent service! What more could you ask for? I highly recommend this restaurant."
I 'm very sad to have to write this however, our starter of cold garlic soup wasn 't appealing, the wrong order was then brought to our table for mains, my au jus on my main was the same as my cold soup starter, no cutlery given, when we asked for cutlery it took about five minuets to obtain a fork, on asking for the second time! We didn 't require dessert but the bill was brought to our table albeit we would have had coffee afterwards and this was by the manager, she made our decision it was time to leave clearly!!. When we spoke to the receptionist at the front of the hotel we had no help, just a chap bewildered who said I 'll go and talk with the manager (the lady who made us feel so unwelcome with the bill), he came back to say We 're sorry about that and that was it, very disappointing for a Saturday evening out and over £150 spent. I 've heard a horror story since also from someone else who dined here. They left without having supper as so much went wrong. Very disappointing compared to The Kennels!
I was taken for lunch here for a surprise for my birthday we were a party of 6. We had all travelled from far and wide (73 mile round trip for some). When we pulled into the car park my expectations were high but I/we were sadly disappointed. My main course roast lamb was extremely rare, almost raw, very fatty and was quite tough to cut. I ended up giving virtually all my meat to our dog. The roast potatoes did not taste fresh, they tasted like they had been cooked previously and then reheated in the microwave. One of our party did note that another table sent their food back. I didn’t want to cause a fuss on the day as it was a surprise birthday lunch for me, booked by my family. Speaking to others in our party later that day I found they too were disappointed but hadn’t liked to cause a fuss. We ate our food so as not to cause offence to our host plus we were all starving. I was expecting something exceptional for the price but I have had a better roast for half the cost at our local pub (with no 73 mile round round trip) No problems regarding the service Very disappointing.
