What Dferrill doesn't like about Yolk Marina City:
The food was average at best. I ordered the Benedict and could not finish. There was a rotten taste. After I removed the ham, the taste did improve. French toast was very dry, bacon was burnt, but everyone loved the sausage. The service was unexceptional as well, we were expecting more. View all feedback.
This place was a nice find, located close to many hotels downtown. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and a very easy to use Yelp waiting list system to get a table (make sure to use this to get an estimate of when to be there! The food was good, although not every selection was a winner. The potato cakes were somewhat bland, but I had the grilled cheese supreme on another visit and that was quite good. The flavoured lattes were also great, and the omelette that my wife had was delicious. The service was excellent to add to that. We've been here multiple times and would certainly go back again.
Diner style brunch/breakfast. Large portions, and our server Katana was very nice. We had the chicken and waffles and a three egg skillet. They were both good but nothing out of the ordinary. We would return for a casual breakfast.Food: 4/5
Best breakfast ever!!! The lemon drizzle blueberry pancakes were amazing!!! The first bite took me to a new dimension... Thank you, Logan, for such amazing customer service. The vibes at the restaurant were very friendly. Very efficient communication with food preparation, putting them on the trays, and calling out for them to be picked up. Also, the eating areas are cleaned as quickly as one can blink once a patron leaves.
Don't get the grits. Sure, being from Charleston I'm expecting maybe too much but they lacked all texture, flavor, and heart. The blueberry and lemon pancakes had great flavor but they were too dense and were overcooked. The lattes (french toast and chocolate peanut butter) were delicious and probably the highlight. The breakfast burrito had good flavor and was very filling. However the chorizo was very greasy and was dripping over everything.I'd suggest checking out wildberry pancakes before this place.
We were in Chicago for a friends bday and stopped here for brunch.Location: it's located right next to the river, we walked from our hotel and it only took 7-8 minutes.Parking: I'm not sure because we walked.Service: Our server was phenomenal! She was so kind and just the right amount of attention. She even brought the bday girl a Nutella crepe. We didn't make reservations so we waited 30 minutes for a seat.Ambience/Crowd: Family oriented; very casualFood/drink : 10/10 we had the burrito with chorizo and the countryside skillet. Everything was great but that hot sauce?! Omg so good!!Will I be back? Yes! The service and food were top notch.Side note: they don't serve alcohol BUT it's BYOB!!
