I had the most pleasant time at Tortoise Supper Club, and I highly recommend coming in on Jazz night which is an absolute blast. We had excellent service from Luke, who is a veteran at the restaurant. Oysters were nice from the east coast, and their signature bread is one of the best in the city. The atmosphere was dark, but still well lit giving an intimate setting. Ask to sit in their Red Room for a little extra pr... View all feedback.
What GeneP doesn't like about Tortoise Club:
The preparation methods of the pork chop and Grits were executed poorly. The pork chop was over cooked. It was very tough and the sauce that was used didn’t accent the meat. It really didn’t make any sense. A vingare based sauce of whatever was used was sour. Pork loves sweetness. You could of used those sour cherries in your cherry pie instead to make a sauce. Or made some sort of apple glazed The cheese grits were... View all feedback.
I was totally blown away. this place was a last minute planning and I was so pleasantly surprised. from personal, to service, to eat it was all amazing. if they love Italian and look for a wonderful place to take someone, they can stop their search.
I don't know why they kept this open when they're close and after arriving in one that cost to discover that it was close.
So bad. it hurts me to write a bad report about the condition of the restaurant industry at the moment, but that was so bad. they had the bartenders and bartenders, provided there were not many people in there, but tables and ppl at the bar is too many ppl for the person to handle. my friend and I ordered the margarita on their special cocktail list and it was disgusting sweet. but it took so long until he came back to us that we just drank them. we ordered the shrimp cocktail for a starter and it came with small garnels with jammed cocktail sauce. because I can't believe that we didn't get as much as a lemon wedge. we asked about lemon and it took so long as we had eaten the little cloves. she ordered the roast chicken, which tasted like it was frozen. I have the pork chop that came with a sauce that was super salty. it was not worth complaining again that he did not come back to check us for at least minutes. the cocktails should be half out (hh) but we were reliant on the full price. overall horrificly disappointing and so expensive. will not be recommending
I've been singing tortoise a lot. every time a lovely experience. never eat disappointed. love the old time elegant atmosphere. so far the service was always attentive and very friendly. my last visit was oktober thank you tortoise for my birthday specialty.
Our third visit and as special as always. Amazing cocktails—especially the whisky sour. Loved the shrimp scampi dip with Ritz crackers. Yum!
