This long-running Chinatown eatery pairs old-school, authentic Chinese cooking with generous, made-to-order portions and generally quick, friendly service. Standouts include chow fun, Singapore noodles, egg drop soup and homemade egg rolls, and staff often accommodate dietary needs. Charm comes with caveats: a worn, hole-in-the-wall interior, limited dim sum availability and uneven service. Most seriously, several accounts describe food-safety issues (pests, foreign objects) and occasional sloppy preparation, which merit caution despite the restaurant’s nostalgic appeal.
While it may not be an upscale place—some might even call it a dive—the quirky menus with misspellings and wear add to its charm. The atmosphere sometimes reminds me of my own family; it’s as if the owners are like my aunt, uncle, and mom, just in a Chinese version. I always feel right at home. Some of my favorite dishes include wonton soup, egg rolls, crab Rangoon, fried rice, chow mein, orange chicken, Moo Shu pork, sweet and sour chicken, and beef with vegetables and mushrooms. Even their more exotic offerings, like duck soup and sea cucumber, are fantastic! The food comes out quickly, tastes amazing, and I’ve never had any issues with my stomach after eating here, unlike at other Chinese restaurants. I’ve dined here at all hours, and the quality remains consistently excellent.
This is a no-frills Chinese restaurant that does a solid job of satisfying your cravings. If you're looking to fill up on Chinese cuisine, this place hits the mark with generous portions at reasonable prices. Most of the food was served hot and fresh, although the egg rolls seemed a bit overcooked. The service was basic, but we came here for the food, and that’s precisely what we received.
This place is a hidden gem, a true hole in the wall without any pretentiousness. They’re open until 1 AM this Saturday night, and the prices are quite reasonable. The standout dishes were the salt and pepper pork chops, salt and pepper smelt, and the subgum fried rice. The seafood combo in white sauce was also good. You pay in advance before receiving your food, and you tip ahead of time as well. While this might be unusual for some, given the excellent dishes they offer at such fair prices, I really can't complain. In my humble opinion, they definitely deserve a five-star rating.
Delicious authentic Chinese cuisine! The egg drop soup is fantastic. The menu offers a variety of options. The staff is friendly and promptly serves food and drinks.
Ordered Szechuan shrimp. Took a little longer than told but not by much. While waiting for my food another patron pointed out a gnat in a hot sauce they were served. Still no problem. However, after starting to eat found that there was pieces of meat included. Will not be returning here.
