"It's evident from the name that this is a spacious bar, which certainly makes finding a spot much easier. The Long Room stands out as one of the more chic bars...".
Food here was great. And we will likely go back. Service was not great. There was a bridal party at the end of the bar, and the bartender apparently forgot the whole point of this place is that it’s a Loooooooong Room, which means a long bar. After about 15 minutes of being finished eating and drinking, I went down to the end of the bar and asked if we could close out because she had completely ignored the rest of the bar for a long time. I also asked the bar back, and his response was “I’m only the bar back, I can’t do anything.” That’s BS. He couldn’t tap the bartender on the shoulder and let her know she isn’t doing her job? Are these people trained? Was it their first day? Maybe we won’t go back……
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Longroom during a weekend stay for an event at Wrigley Field and I was blown away by the experience. The bar is located at the edge of downtown close to most everything on the Northside including Wrigley Field, and fell in love with the place and its warm and inviting atmosphere. It has no tvs, no loud music and by far the cleanest restrooms! The staff is friendly and attentive, and the drinks are perfectly priced and top-notch quality. Working in the hospitality industry for over 30 years, I was particularly impressed by the doorman/host, Jeremy. He went above and beyond to make sure that our experience was perfect. He greeted us warmly when we arrived, and he made sure that we were seated in a comfortable spot. He immediately gave us the location of the restrooms, water station, kitchen and outdoor patio and gave food recommendations for pizza that night and brunch the following morning for the Niceguy food, which we returned for and were absolutely amazed by the brunch and coffee service offered. At one point, we tried to tip Jeremy, but he refused. He said that we should give the tip to the bar back and bartender, because they deserve it more than he does and to write a review online and tell friends about longroom . Its rare to see dedication like that and goes to show how much he cares about making sure that his customers have a great time. If you 're looking for a great place to have an amazing hand-crafted drink, great food and the most comfortable relaxing and enjoyable experience in Chicago, I highly recommend Longroom. And if you do go, be sure to ask for Jeremy. He 's the best in the business.
I love this place. I'm a big time introvert and this is the only bar in the city I visit regularly. Great, chill atmosphere, friendly staff, and a fantastic rotation of beers on tap including a lot of local options. I'm a dark beer lover and this place never disappoints. At most other bars I'm lucky if they have more than one dark beer on tap but here they usually have several options. The establishments that switch off making food in the kitchen are all great.
Great cocktails and good vibes. The back patio is big and smoking friendly. There’s a water station next to the bar and a photo booth in the back. Fun on date and big tables are available for groups.
Phenomenal bar, incredible staff, delicious and changing cocktail menu. The space and ambiance are perfect for a chatty night out with some friends. Not too wild, not too quiet. Just right! LR was our neighborhood spot for 2 years and we celebrated many of life’s achievements here. The back area is free to reserve and there is often pizza available for order. Also the patio is fun even in the fall because of the heat lamps. If you are in the area this bar is a must! Possibly my favorite bar in Chicago.
