This no-frills restaurant in the heart of uptown serves authentic Chinese barbecue at a reasonable price. We ordered the Beijing duck in advance and tried a variety of other dishes when we arrived. Everything was excellent. While the service has never been particularly warm, it’s never rude either. Efficiency is definitely the focus here. View all feedback.
What Oliver Smith doesn't like about Sun Wah Bar-b-q Restaurant:
The prices were fair, and the duck was tasty, though the skin was not crispy. The fried rice was quite dark, likely due to the amount of soy sauce used, and it was lacking in flavor. However, the eggplant was well-seasoned. The service was quick, even with the restaurant being busy. View all feedback.
It was really busy in this restaurant on a Monday night. I was told to make a reservation if you wanted to order the Beijing duck dinner. The garlic stir fried eggplant was pretty good, the sauce went very well with white rice. The duck itself and theduck fried rice were lacking flavor. The duck bone soup had no duck taste, which was disappointing. Maybe because it was asuper busy night that the flavors were off. We waited a bit for the Beijing duck dinner. Make sure you call ahead and havepatience.
We came in 15 min before closing time unknowingly but they did not mention anything about it and gave us regular service. Employees are very kind. We ordered a Peking Duck meal which is not on the menu but is available for special order. It's a wholeduck, with fried rice, big bowl of soup, 6 buns and side dishes. It can easily feed 3 people and it's delicious. Also you haveto try the Bok Chi!

The Peking Duck was absolutely amazing—truly a treat for everyone at the table. It was packed with flavor, and the side dishes were huge. One order of Peking Duck, along with its soup and noodles, could easily serve 3 to 4 people. For our group of five, we ended up ordering two ducks, three entrees, and an extra soup. We brought home six containers of leftovers and two quarts of soup! The service was outstanding, with our food arriving impressively quickly. We had a reservation for 5:30, and by 5:45, we were already enjoying our meal. Just a note: you'll need to place your order for the Peking Duck 48 hours in advance, but it's definitely worth it. Sun Wah BBQ exceeded our expectations, and I can’t wait to return!
