This restaurant in the Ukrainian Village and Wicker Park is one of my favorites. They serve delicious roasted chicken options, both gluten-full and gluten-free. I highly recommend trying their truffle dishes, they are the best in the city. The restaurant includes a mandatory service fee, which gives them the opportunity to provide excellent service. I love that!
Walked in for brunch with friends and absolutely loved the atmosphere. Food was delicious, and was so stoked to have gluten free friend chicken. Sadly, that was almost the only thing I could eat. Half the brunch menu was sandwiches, and they didn’t offer a gluten free bread option. Seemed silly to not include that at a place that had gf fried chicken!Only other downsides was it was a little pricier and service was a tad slow but it was still good!
Always a great experience! Love the food and the cocktails: the fried chicken is to die for, the matzah ball soup is divine, and the atmosphere at the bar is always jovial.
Great and inventive food. hostess was bubbly. gm was attentive and thoughtful. service was spot on, boards came fast and timing between the curses was good. would most definitely be back and forth.
Nestled in a charming neighborhood, this restaurant offers a mix of delightful dishes and a vibrant atmosphere ideal for any occasion. Guests rave about the standout gluten-free options, particularly the fried chicken, which has garnered high praise for its juicy texture and crispy crust. The menu features a variety of favorites, from flavorful falafels to rich crab pasta. While some patrons noted minor service hiccups and limited food items during peak hours, the energetic staff and creative cocktails made up for it. Whether for a casual outing or a romantic date night, this spot promises a memorable dining experience.

I really enjoy stopping by here to refuel after an intense strength workout at The Garage Chicago. I typically get their quinoa and avocado salad along with the vegan chicken strips. Both are incredibly flavorful and delicious. Plus, the staff is fantastic!
We're big fans of Split Rail and have been visiting for the last year. The food is fantastic — highly recommend the Crunch Salad with their incredible fried chicken, the biscuits with chile-maple butter, the rotating desserts (banana bread pudding! and all delicious. And even as they made such good chicken, their Diner Burger is fabulous. Loaded mash potatoes are great, though note the tater tots can be a little salty for my taste. For Dine In, the drinks are really great and the service is gre … – show
One of the best fried chicken biscuits spots in Chicago! Service is great. Staff is very friendly. Even our delivery came fresh, hot and delicious! Highly recommend — I am a fried chicken and biscuit pro from New Orleans. Mac Cheese is also incredible.
We went here awhile back and was underwhelmed, so when Split Rail was slinging the new menu we decided to give it another go. A couple cocktails, a salad, two chicken dinners and one dessert came out to $96. We found the chicken to be over-breaded to the point it was difficult to bite into. At almost $20 a “dinner”, it should include sides but doesn’t, so we shared a salad and that ended up being the highlight of our meal. Dorthy’s downstairs was cozy but felt a bit too themey. The staff at this restaurant is fantastic and creates a welcoming atmosphere that feels like dining at a friend's house. I have tried everything on the menu during multiple visits and have not been disappointed with a single dish. I highly recommend trying the Hot Child in the City cocktail, as well as their non-alcoholic drinks such as Purple Rain and the Renter with a shot of vodka added. The linguine and clams dish is the best in the city, and the octopus salad and tomahawk are must-try items. Be sure to order a side of green bean casserole and grilled potato salad with your meal. The chips and dip, chicken nuggets, lamb tartare, and loaded baked potato gnocchi are also delicious options. I did not try the desserts as I prefer the cocktails, but others at my table raved about them. Overall, I recommend trying a bit of everything on the menu.
From the moment I walked into this restaurant, I felt completely at ease and well taken care of. The "Childhood in New England" dessert was truly something unique and delightful. The service and hospitality were outstanding, and the Monday "artist" industry night was a fantastic and valuable experience. This place definitely deserves a spot at the top of your list for hot spots in Chicago!
Amazing food. Amazing staff. Amazing drinks. This is officially my new neighborhood place to hang out. The chocolate tart is beyond good and the “deconstructed” fajita was pretty impressive. I could go on and on.
Four words: Loaded. Baked. Potato. Gnocchi. Cocktails were amazing, lots of options with floral and spice notes. Coolest music, all on vinyl!
My new favorite restaurant in the area. Friendly wait staff, perfect suggestions on everything from beverages to desserts. They were spot on! Every dish was better than the next. Perfect portions. Second time there since the inauguaral night last week! Love it. We will see you again soon!!!!
