However, positive notes were made about the food quality, atmosphere, and friendly staff. One customer appreciated the birthday accommodations, while another highlighted the $35 three-course lunch tasting menu as great value for money. Although the service was a bit slow, most customers enjoyed their overall experience and would consider returning to the restaurant. Overall, the restaurant offers delicious food, a charming atmosphere, and accommodating staff, with room for improvement in service efficiency and menu variety.
Considering the location of Somerset, I expected more. We made a brunch reservation and were seated quickly. We were offered the patio and the weather was perfect that day so we couldn?t pass it up. Sadly, the service was horrible (and not just for ourtable). I noticed that many other tables were as neglected as we were. Once we finally did get to put an order in, it took anhour for food to come out. Mind you, this is brunch service which should involve easier prep. In the end, the quality of serviceand long wait detracted from the experience. For brunch, I suggest avoiding. By the time we were actually eating, I didn?t thinkthe food was worth it anymore.
Really liked this place for lunch ? my biggest complaint was that the service was very slow but they have a $35 3 course tasting menu for lunch that includes an amazing avocado toast and a truly delicious burger with cheesecake. That?s an amazing deal forthe quality of the food that you get and you can do the tasting menu even if others at your table aren?t. The atmosphere isgorgeous. I?d definitely return!
I like the ambiance here, the food is not as expected, I ordered ham cheese I asked to substitute the protein with chicken, the tomatoes was called the omelette needs some more salt. You have to ask for coffee refills!
We had an amazing experience for dinner and a lot of that had to do with Jess and one of the bartenders. (Wish I got his name! TL/DR: Smaller food and drink menu (they will make whatever you want but everything is amazing, the staff made theexperience even better and we will be back to sit outside on the patio. We sat in the bar area which was amazing because we gotto interact with the staff and have them make some specialty cocktails we liked. First was a mezcal drink (pic included and Idid a smokey old fashioned (pic and both were unreal. I will be back soon to get one again. For dinner I'd say you need oneapp, two entrees and MAYBE one side. We did the steak tartare and crab app (pic attached to start and both were amazing, woulddef start with those. For entrees we did the beef short rib and then the cacio e pepe and ate every bit of both. We also ordereda side of fries which were not needed since we were stuffed. They also brought out a dessert for my girlfriend because it washer bday which was a perfect end to dinner.
I've had this place bookmarked for a long time...I've even suggested it to many people traveling through Chicago. We were very excited to eat brunch here before flying out that afternoon. We arrived for our 8am reservation and were informed thatbrunch didnt start till 9am..... we didn't know and were disappointed but we figured the breakfast would still besufficient. My partner had the somerset breakfast..... plain eggs, protein, toast, and potatoes. And a tea Okay. Cool...simple . I got the short rib shakshuka. Lack luster and didnt look or taste fresh... the toast wasn't anythingspecial.. The pain au chocolat was 6$ and one of the worst I've ever had. Ugly on the outside, Raw inside. And a weirdlysticky glaze ontop that was so unnecessary and just made our hands sticky. There was no server on the floor, just the hostess, who never came to check on us or make sure we had water or anything. The coffee was really good, La Colombe. Incredibly overpriced $60 ish) for diner level food. Would've happily paid way more than that for the bangin brunch I was expecting/ hopingfor.
