Reviews - Same Same
Reviews summary
Tucked on Roscoe Street, this small neighborhood Thai spot pairs warm, attentive service and a lively, art-filled atmosphere with standout dishes—crispy fried chicken, pork ribs and pad Thai—generous portions and inventive cocktails. Food is often fresh and excellent, but inconsistency appears (notably a thin, overly sweet Panang curry for some). Expect limited seating, occasional slow service, and slightly higher prices; arrive early or be ready to wait.

I've visited this restaurant before, and it's consistently been wonderful. This time, we tried the pork ribs, crispy chicken, and pad Thai, and everything was exceptional. The servers were also very friendly and accommodating. View all feedback.
What Elliot Gagne dislikes about Same Same:
My wife opted for the Penang curry with tofu, which came with precisely 8 oz of curry sauce that she described as reminiscent of slightly spicy cereal milk. It was thin, bland, and excessively sweet. The dish included four thin slices of tofu, a few green bell pepper pieces, and far too many bamboo shoots. We definitely should have stuck to our favorite Thai spots in Uptown or on the South Side. Delicious Thai cuisine in a cozy and eclectic environment. Perfect for takeout as well!
This place is phenomenal! Hannah is super nice and our food was delicious! I’m going to be back soon
This is a small but fantastic establishment with friendly staff and delicious food. I particularly enjoyed the wonderful music selection. I’m grateful for the generous portion sizes, which left me with plenty of leftovers!
I absolutely loved my meal! I ordered the phat kee mao, and it was delicious—so flavorful! Our group also shared the wok peanuts, which were good but a bit underwhelming in terms of flavor. The waitress was attentive, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was quite pleasant. I rated it a 4 because my partner ordered the hat Yai chicken. He found it dry, and while the sauce helped, he was particularly disappointed given the price.

We thoroughly enjoyed their crispy fried chicken, which was delicious. The shallot topping added great flavor, and the sticky rice was wonderfully soft. I also highly recommend their fried rice. As for the curry, the crispy noodles were tasty but a bit scarce; the rest of the dish consisted of soft noodles. So, only order it if you’re a big fan of curry.
Love going to Same Same! They now have gluten free menu indications on their online menu. Before they did this, I was getting conflicting information from the waiters in regards to gluten free options. I usually get the Thai green curry which is excellent! My friends and family have tried most other dishes and they are always excellent as well.

I was so impressed with Same Same! The food was awesome: flavorful, warming, and well presented. The miso hot buttered rum was a standout too, so unique and a big portion. We went on a Monday so it was easy to get a table as a walk in. I can't wait to go back.
