I booked Lime Leaf Thai on a whim before attending the symphony during my recent Chicago trip. It's conveniently located just a few blocks from Chicago's Symphony Hall, making it an easy walk. We arrived early around 5:30 pm, and the restaurant was nearly empty—I hope that’s just because of the time. The food was outstanding, and the staff were excellent. We ordered way more than we needed for two people, just to sample a variety of dishes, and every single one was delicious. I was especially impressed by the gyoza and the corn salad—both come highly recommended. The restaurant is tucked inside a DePaul University building, and I hope it gets plenty of daytime business. It would be a shame if they had to close due to low patronage. My only letdown was that they served no beer or wine, only tea.
This was the BEST MEAL I’ve had this year. I travel all over the country and eat at some amazing restaurants. Leaving only great reviews of my experiences (or not great experiences: which are few) This place has been open in Chicago since October 2018 and why have I not been here yet? I love Thai fusion and this is one of my favorites!! I highly recommend (if you like hot) The Papaya Salad, Panang Chicken Curry and the Fried Roti for desert!! So since I eat out often I hardly eat the whole meal. I alway leave food on my plate no matter where I go. However the portion sizes were fair for the price and NO food was left at this dining experience. I think of this place when I travel and hope to find something close and I haven’t yet! So it makes me want to go back when I’m home for lunch or dinner. The menu was huge with many delicious options that I must try so eating there several times a month is going to be no problem! Highly recommend going to this place!!
Went there on a snowy night in January, and despite the crazy weather, the service was very attentive. Great place for basic Thai Food at a good price. Each of us really liked our meals which came with generous portion sizes (definitely enough for leftovers). Would have been better if they served alcohol, but their fruity hot tea hit the spot.
The baked crab dish had barely any crab in it, and there were no tapioca pearls in the Thai coffee. The service was slow and the staff wasn't very attentive.
Nestled near Chicago's symphony hall, Lime Leaf offers a delightful escape for Thai food enthusiasts. Despite being a BYOB establishment with limited nearby options, the restaurant captivates diners with its exceptional dishes and attentive service. Guests rave about the flavorful gyoza, corn salad, and must-try Papaya Salad, Panang Chicken Curry, and Fried Roti. The casual, cafeteria-like ambiance may lack atmosphere during off-peak hours, but the quality and generous portion sizes more than compensate. Affordable and consistently satisfying, Lime Leaf is not to be missed, making it a prime choice for both lunch and dinner in the city.
