Fred Jack's - Chicago
Fred Jack's
Description
At this renowned local eatery, opinions are sharply divided. While some patrons rave about the hot and delicious offerings, including burritos and shakes, others express deep dissatisfaction with both the food and service. Complaints range from bland, greasy meals and poorly executed orders to unprofessional staff behavior, creating a chaotic atmosphere. The inconsistency in food quality, coupled with an apparent disregard for customer preferences, leaves many diners disenchanted. Ultimately, this establishment embodies a "you get what you pay for" ethos, suggesting that while it may be a budget-friendly choice, expectations should be tempered accordingly.

I ordered a double cheeseburger with gyro meat, and to be honest, it was quite bland and greasy. The fries were soggy, and it didn't seem like any seasoning was used. Overall, it wasn't a good experience, which is why I usually don't take my friends' advice when it comes to food. Food rating: 1/5.
I used to enjoy their Cheese Steak fries when they were priced at $4.75. Now they're $9.00, and they're not worth it; they look like they were just thrown together. I asked for extra cheese, and they charged me for it, which is frustrating. Ever since the remodel, the quality has really declined, along with the customer service. Eat here at your own risk; it's not worth the money.
This is a HOOD spot, everything that comes with that connotation applies here!Meaning: you got the typical bad attitude, rude AF, rushed hood chick taking orders like she hates seeing customers come in to bother her. Cooks in the back that dgaf about making your food on time, or how you want it. Then to cap it off, you’ve got mediocre food quality that fluctuates from decent, good, to terrible, the more you visit. If it ain’t on the menu, exactly as it says, they won’t make adjustments to accommodate you (you could be ****, they still DGAF). Even if it’s something as simple as use the chicken they put in a regular burrito place it into a breakfast burrito; instead of the usual steak/beef/bacon.To their defense, if you don’t like the environment or place of business, just don’t go there (period). For all this money spent and being unhappy, go somewhere else, or eat at home. So in all fairness, you get what you expect. Cheap eats Cheap Service Cheap Experiences
I have been a loyal customer here since I was a child, and I'm happy to report that the new owners are upholding the tradition of providing fresh, well-prepared meals. It still stands out as one of the best places on the Southside.
