By false photos of Boonsita, it took us two attempts to find it. Previous review was Spot on...get the Big Set for 80 Baht. There are about five or six different dishes that surround a hill of brown rice. I found the spice to my desires, my friend usually found it too sharp. Many of the clients were from the hospital opposite and down/on the street. A dish had large pieces of bamboo shoot that was delicious. I usuall... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Boonsita:
I keep scouring Chiang Rai for budget vegan restaurants, so I went to this one today for lunch. Delicious steamed brown rice measured with a tiny cup, and cold veg dishes, which by now I got used to.. Lol. I picked a fake meat dish with shitaake mushroom and broccoli with tofu over my tiny rice, all for 35 baht. Tasty hot soup came with it. The dishes were kinda dissapointing, rather bland, I must say. I really don't... View all feedback.
Many hospital staff eating here, probably not many tourist seemed quite enthusiastic about me, on a friendly way! the first time I visited early for lunch, right on the afternoon. I have 3 dishes with rice from the buffet for 50 baht. my favorite was the delicate bambus shoot. like most Jay sites, eating is easy, but if they have to season it up, there is a table full of seasoned including chili and soy. I took up a package of rice paper rolls to take for later, filled with fresh vegetables, tofu, mango and served with a creamy green sauce. I think that were also 50 bahts, pretty good worth! the next day I went with my man a little later the day, about 1 o'clock, and the buffet was empty. the friendly staff lets us know that they could serve us khao soi. can not go wrong with this cured coconut noodle soup in northern Thailand, so we happily accepted and on the spicy to load with chili, lime and inlaid greens. the broth was beautiful and light, although still creamy and fragrant, perfect for a hot day. every 15th of the month when Buddhists eat vegetarian, they serve free food! Not sure whether they do so on the 1st month. boonsita was very close to our hotel, but a bit outside the city, so not so comfortable when they stay closer to the center.
This place is a highlight in Chiang Rai. By far the best vegetarian restaurant in the city. It won't even disappoint meat eaters. They have the finished options, but they also do some noodle dishes à la carte. Your Khao Soi (Curry Nudel, a signature court of Chiang Mai area) is absolutely divine! You have so many different dishes and vegetarian proteins! I wish I could speak Thai, so I would understand what food is about. I was sad to see that they use so many plastic to pack the food. What a waste! I wish they could find a planetary solution. They also sell some industrialized products which, in my opinion, are completely unnecessary. Doctors and nurses from the hospital eat here, which gives them an even better picture when it comes to “health”.
I have almost everything for a big breakfast. On red rice. Everything was delicious and the staff was polite. Free water and soup. Everything here costs 60 Baht.
Great buffet! I recommend the big set for 80. We went two days in a row and the food wasn't too similar. You can also order a la carte. They have a variety of sauces to supplement and a small soup is included. Today they also gave us some peas and cucumbers on the side. Updated by previous rating on 2023-02
It’s been a great discovery. Wide choice of vegetarian food, organic products, wonderful service and space. Very competitive price, from 30 to 50 bath for a meal.
