Great meal. Definitely go for the three course meal. Everything was fantastic. Waiter had what seemed to be four pages of the daily menu specials memorized.Restaurant was a little difficult to find at night, as the entrance is located in the bottom of the parking garage. View all feedback.
What Christian Gautrois doesn't like about Tavira:
We order some calamari but was bland and chewy not good I think was frozen the bread bad quality the service good but not great the codfish was good but too much oil the soup was good the place need some refreshing too old View all feedback.
Special ambiente as it is located in a parking garage. We were not at all disappointed though as the food was exceptionally good. Calamar cooked to perfection, tender new York striploin with a mouthwatering sauce, grilled rock fish on a bed of young spinach. Come here for exceptionally good food!
They changed the Monday to Friday three course lunch menu. The $17.00 lunch main course is mainly three different kinds of pasta and two burger sliders. The food is good but the cashier was going to charge us for the refill of my husband's coke and my unsweetened tea. I checked the bill after she charged the credit card. I pointed out, told her that it never happened before and she returned the money in cash for the coke and iced tea .
Always a great experience at Tavira restaurant. I was glad that I found this hidden gem in the bottom level of the Chevy chase garage. I’ve been very interested in Portuguese food and wine for a while and was very happy I could savor it. The food is decent priced for the amount of portions you get. The wine is a bit expensive but it makes sense. The service is great even when it’s busy. The atmosphere can be a bit noisy at some points where you can hear others speak but that’s normal during busy hours for most places. Definitely recommend Tavira for a great experience. Dietary restrictions: Helpful when it comes to allergy restrictions. And aware that they don’t serve a dish that the customer is allergic to. Kid-friendliness: Open to kids
I missed the complimentary port I had in previous dinners.
Group dinner here enjoying Portuguese food and drinks. The Portuguese vino verte is a light tasty white wine which went well with many dishes, as did the Portuguese Superbock lager beer. My Calierada, Portuguese fish stew, included shrimp, clams and mussels still in their shells, sea scallops, squid rings, as well as some firm pieces of fish. Others tried and liked a variety of Portuguese styled meats and chicken dishes.
