Contribute FeedbackThe experience at this local restaurant presents a striking contrast between disappointment and delight. Some patrons lament poor service, unavailable menu items, and unresponsive staff, leading to frustration and claims of not returning. In stark contrast, others rave about exceptional meals, attentive service, and innovative dishes, highlighting standout offerings like cauliflower veloute and exquisite desserts. With guests enjoying festive roasts during holidays and unique dining options, the establishment seems to have potential. However, inconsistency in service, availability, and guest engagement remains a concern, leaving prospective diners questioning whether their visit will be a hit or a miss.
I sent a private message but was ignored. We went to the restaurant yesterday at 2pm and noticed that the car park was empty, which was concerning. We ordered drinks - a dizzy blonde and a Moretti - and sat outside. Five minutes later, we were told they were out of draft beer. When we asked about other lagers, the barman didn't know and offered to check, but we decided to just get another half of Moretti. After waiting about 20 minutes with no drinks or service, we left. We were disappointed, but not surprised considering the empty establishment, negative reviews, and lack of response. We won't be going back. It's a shame. We later received a reply on Facebook messenger calling us liars. Absolutely shocked! It's almost comical. Stay away from this place.
Visited here after going to Crocky Trail for the afternoon. Excited to have aSunday Roast with bottomless roasties, gravy, yorkshire puddings, as advertised! Unfortunately when we arrived they were out of Beef, no big deal. When the food arrived it was ok, sent feedback directly to Pub about 'bottomless ' options. Cauliflower cheese was very tasty. Value for kids roasts is really good considering you get drink, roast and icecream cone all for £5. Kids chicken burger wasn 't necessarily a burger, more like two chicken nuggets in a bun.
Lovely Easter Sunday lunch here today with family. Roast beef was excellent and the veg choice was great. Had sticky toffee pudding and it 's probably the nicest lightest one I 've ever had. Staff are attentive and really pleasant. I would recommend a visit especially in the warmer months to come when the outdoor 'igloo ' pods will be great!
Had a meal at here tonight, very disappointing, ordered chicken supreme, recieved roast chicken, potatoes were frozen roast potatoes, 2nd visit and last
I rarely give 1-star reviews, but after visiting the Black Dog on and off for the past 30 years, I have consistently been disappointed. My recent visit on Sunday, March 20th with my family was no exception. The highlighted cocktail, Cheshire Vibes Hendricks, was missing key ingredients like cucumber and cucumber tonic. The white wine spritzers were made with white wine and lime juice, resembling a urine sample. The Blood Mary lacked vodka and had a spring onion garnish instead of celery. The roast beef was unappealing, and the overall experience was subpar with empty tables, slow service, and incorrect orders. I doubt I'll return, unless the restaurant undergoes a major relaunch in the future.
