not impressed! we ordered 2 cakes and two coffees. my banoffee choux bun looked beautiful in the window dsplay when served the waitress must have brought it from behind the scenes have no toffee sauce above! so ended with a simple cream choux. the coffees were warm and small total price £17.10 View all feedback.
A strange experience. We had a voucher for afternoon tea for two. Although the website states you don’t have to book, we called anyway to check this was the case. They confirmed we didn’t need to book. When we arrived later that day we were told they were short staffed in the kitchen so couldn’t serve afternoon tea. They then backtracked said they could if that was all we wanted! Our food arrived almost immediately suggesting it was already prepared so I’m confused as to why they originally said they couldn’t serve it?? The afternoon tea was delicious and there was plenty of it. Shop generally a bit tired, and in need of some refurbishment.
If only the staff could find a smile and communicate with customers it could be a better experience Lacks atmosphere and was cold and not very welcoming
Do not go here if you want a nice relaxing good afternoon tea! Went to celebrate our retirement with an afternoon tea courtesy of a good friend and had a shocking experience . Had a ridiculous wait of over half an hour for afternoon tea as one of us was gluten free ! No customer service . Staff so miserable . Two young waitresses who were so sullen and quiet and didn 't even attend to basic needs with plates etc. Several tables complaining about lack of attentiveness from miserable young staff . More mature member of staff with loose long hair ! With a an attitude ! Made to feel like it was 'our duty ' to have to wait over half an hour for sandwiches to be made up on gluten-free bread. Everyone around us , who came in after us, getting served but we were told that was the reason why . Ridiculous . No apologies . Finished our coffees and made to wait for over half an hour for food . This place needs a massive shake up !!!!
Rudest staff ever. Long wait for 2 cakes and a cappuccino. When the lady eventually brought the cappuccino, I said that we’d also ordered 2 cakes and she said very rudely “I’m just looking for a fork”. I’m sorry but that’s not my problem I just wanted my cakes
Went to have a quick spot of lunch. Ordered 2 coffees and 2 sandwiches. Coffees arrived and were delicious. After waiting 20 minutes asked where our sandwiches were. Told they were coming soon. After waiting 30 minutes the sandwiches had still not arrived so cancelled the order. The sandwiches are pre-made and sitting in the chiller near the till. How long does it take to walk the sandwiches 20 paces into the kitchen, put on a plate with garnish and serve to the customer? Apparently more than half an hour. Avoid if you want service at anything quicker than a glacial pace.
