Nice little spot under the trees with wooden tables to sit at outside and a covered area as well. The coffee warmed us up on a very wet day. Lady in tea room very nice and friendly. Toilets are situated in a separate building to the rear. View all feedback.
What nicolabenj doesn't like about Cholmondeley Castle Tea Room:
Very disappointing experience. The food is overpriced and of poor quality. We chose to sit outside because the interior of the café has become damp, dreary, and worn down. As always, there was a major wasp issue that seemed to be unmanageable. The entire establishment feels neglected. Such a shame. View all feedback.

The only coffee option available is filter coffee; they don't offer any other types of coffee. The food selection is limited to cold sandwiches, and there are no homemade cakes, soups, salads, or hot dishes. This change in the menu seems to be a result of the new ownership. Overall, it was quite disappointing.

When our food finally arrived, it was of extremely poor quality. The cheese and ham tasted artificial, as if they came from a package. The coleslaw and salad had a soapy flavor, the egg mayo was completely bland, and the brown bread was stale and excessively sweet. Neither my wife nor my daughter could eat more than a single bite of their meals. To add to our discomfort, there was a dog running around in the seating and food preparation areas, with dog food on the floor, which felt unsanitary.
We had a lovely walk around the gardens and then popped into the tea room for lunch. I had a bacon and brie panini and my OH had the chili nachos. Both were delicious. Service was professional and very friendly. Several people were having the Afternoon Tea which looked lovely. The tea room itself is clean and tidy but old, and the staff have to work in a cramped kitchen which must make busy times very difficult. The whole place needs knocking down and rebuilt to match the beauty of the surroundings. Imagine a gorgeous conservatory Tea Room in this setting! You would be here every day.....
