What Thowdmon doesn't like about At Rookery Hall And:
(Actually not the restaurant but a bar snack. OK I am biased. We had our wedding meal there 26 years ago, and returned for an anniversary lunch. But that doesn’t affect our opinion. The cauliflower and cider apple soup was possibly the best soup I have ever tasted. (I am 76 . More to the point is that, the much better half, thought the same. Then a Lobster Pizza to share. We have never had a lobster pizza before. It was worthy of a celebration. We had a quietly romantic, celebratory, quality time in a corner of the bar, which we found perfect. Then the lovely waitress brought out a plate with ‘Happy Birthday’ on it with a couple of chocolates. We shall be back.

Our food was fabulous: delicious mackerel to start followed by Halibut and a succulent steak, accompanied by peas with pancetta and incredibly moreish rosti potatoes. We shared a selection of 3 cheeses to finish: Cashel blue, mature cheddar and a delectable brie coated in nettles. All an absolute treat for the tastebuds. The waiters/waitresses were delightful, especially Morgan who is an absolute credit to this fine establishment. Our next visit is already booked and I can’t wait to return. Highly recommended especially if you are local.
We had dinner here as part of a main package at the hotel for my husband’s birthday. The waiting staff were so lovely, polite and helpful. As we went into the dining room for dinner, the staff wished my husband a happy birthday, and brought us a complimentary glass of Prosecco to celebrate. We had the menu explained to use in detail and decided to go with the chefs experience menu. I cannot put into words how delicious this was. It started with chefs snack, followed by a pea soup and sourdough, then salmon, then lamb which might I add was out of this world and the best thing I have ever tasted, then a sorbet and lastly the rhubarb cheesecake for dessert. Each dish that was brought out to us was throughly explained in detail. The waiting time between each dish was perfect.
Stayed for my husband's birthday as a surprise. This hotel is lovely, comfortable, clean, staff are friendly and helpful. The spa is great. Stayed in a superior with feature and definitely would stay in again. It is expensive but you do get a great service
We had a superb Sunday lunch yesterday. The setting was beautiful , the food gorgeous the pork was to die for and the cauliflower cheese was the best I have ever tasted. What makes this place so special are that staff. All so charming , interactive and attentive. Rookery Hall you should be very proud as we all agreed this was the best Sunday lunch ever !
My partner and I dined here yesterday evening, with some friends, to celebrate a 75th birthday. From the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed and looked after by the truly excellent Dan, Eva and Ollie. The staff really made our evening and added to a memorable experience. I should also mention the food which was outstanding! We all enjoyed our meals which were perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Thank you so much!
