This is a fantastic pub that stands out in a neighborhood filled with overpriced gastropubs. It has a lovely traditional charm and a warm atmosphere. You can enjoy classic pub dishes here, like the delicious pub duck, without any pretentiousness—what a relief! They offer two average ales (Speckled Hen and Greene King IPA), but there's also a very good Goff's Lancer available. Unfortunately, there isn't a local ale, a... View all feedback.
Beautiful small local pub, great atmosphere, good eating, selection of genuine ales selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. a beautiful place for a cozy night with a friendly community clientele
Good beer great food friendly staff. Bi monthly bingo quiz and live music on alternate wednesdays.
I was dismayed to read KC's critical review of the Royal Marine, which is a traditional village pub whose landlord and landlady, Pat and Sue, could not be more welcoming and friendly. They also provide excellent food and beer at a reasonable price. The pub is small and intimate. The review gives a completely false impression. I was at the Royal Marine with my wife and disabled father in law at the same time as the reviewer and her party. It was sometime after they had arrived that I needed to go to the gents, which I could do only by clambering over their various baby equipment, which was blocking the route. I said nothing but the landlady obviously saw the situation and came over to speak to the ladies. She was the epitome of politeness and what she said was completely reasonable. My disabled father in law uses a walking frame and wheelchair. Wherever we take him he insists that his equipment is stored completely unobtrusively. Pat and Sue are excellent with him. We cannot recommend the Royal Marine highly enough.
Absolutely lovely pub. Couldn't wish for bettter service at the bar. When we decided to stay for a meal the food come out extremely fast and was better than any Michelin star restaurant I've been to.
The R.M. is a fantastic pub with a lovely atmosphere. The owner, Pat, and his wife are wonderful hosts. The food is delicious, and they serve real ale, along with a friendly local crowd. Highly recommended!
