Using the toilet required the door to be open because your knees are wedged against the door. We are neither particularly tall and are not overweight both of which would have been particularly challenging. There is a bath which is difficult to access because you need to climb in over the end. We eat in the bistro on two nights. The experience was like a visit to the dentist. A problem was solved (provision of calories) but it was not meant to be enjoyable. The food struggles to be average and is overpriced. There is a dominance of process over customer satisfaction. We visited during hot weather but were not allowed to eat outside. Rules prevented us looking at the menu while we had a drink 2 m outside the restaurant French windows. The staff do not seem to be happy and are badly organised. The senior staff are unremittingly miserable. Unusual to find such a pretentious badly run restaurant at this price in France. No pride, no joy best avoided
Awesome hotel! Great staff. We stayed only 2 days but would return again if were travel in that area
We stayed here for 2 nights and ate here the first night. The staff were amazing. The food was excellent. We would have loved a bigger menu so we could have eaten here 2 nights in a row.
This restaurant is located almost in walking distance to the famous Chenonceau Castle. It’s an old residential building, a true “auberge” in that sense. As it has limited number of tables, it’s best to reserve in advance, it’s probable you won’t find availability if you go without a reservation. The food is amazing here: very limited menu in terms of options but each option sounds so alluring that it’s hard to make a choice. The amuse-bouche at the beginning was delicious so was the home made traditional cherry liquor kind of drink at the end which were the only things we had not chosen ourselves. The only downside was the service: the staff did not seem very happy and hardly smiled, maybe there was something special that night, I don’t know. And furthermore, the gentleman who looked like the head waiter spent the whole evening chatting with one of the customers who obviously was a frequent guest but that did not look very professional to us. But I believe these downsides were about that specific night. Because the dining experience in itself was truly memorable
We enjoyed dinner here during our stay at the hotel. The setting is wonderful and the food was excellent - particular mention to the lamb which was simply perfect.
