It wasn't as busy as I thought it would be. We managed to get a table straight away. You order and pay at the counter. The drinks came out quickly which was great. The food shortly after. The meals were all tasty and well presented. My issue was this, my sons and I all ordered an additional item with our breakfasts. They are priced at $2.50 and $3.50 each. For $2.50 you got a tomato. I would have thought a side of tomatoes would be more than one. I ordered a side of mushrooms at $3.50. I got two. $1.75 each and they weren't large either.Really overpriced in my opinion. We spent $145 on five of us. I've spent less and got much better value elsewhere. If you can, do exactly that.
Service and food was fast pleasant and very efficient Food perfect for a very quick lunch as we were traveling on

My friend and I reached Ricketts Point Cafe by walking along the cliff-top shared pedestrian /bike path from Black Rock. On a sunny day with a cool wind, it was a lovely 20 minute walk. So much so, that we repeated the exercise after we'd eaten our lunch. There was quite a crowd on the deck, but we managed to find a table with great views of the Bay and our fellow diners, who were a mix of young and old, including several women with young children. It's a causal place. You choose your food, order and pay at the desk and have your meals delivered to your table. You also help yourself to water, from a central area.My friend was pleased to find several gluten-free options on the menu. She chose salt and pepper squid, with a rocket salad. ($18) Apparently the calamari itself was tender, but she commented it was a bit bland, and she got tired of chewing rocket leaves. I selected a crispy falafel burger ($16). I found the chick pea patty very spicy and a bit dry, but the salad items and dressing in the bun made a nice combination. We were not bothered by flies and enjoyed being out of the sun under an awning. If I lived in the area I think I'd be a regular at the cafe, and my friend and I plan to do the walk again another sunny day.
We have been coming back here for the past 4 years, always friendly service and a fun place and great view across the Bay. Decided to have the Waffles with a banana, excellent with Flat White Coffees.Definitely worth stopping over, and very busy on a perfect Sunny day with temperatures around 95f. The restaurant is under covers and have Fans!
