Hobson's - Cheltenham
Hobson's
Description
Hobson's Restaurant in Sandringham offers a mixed experience according to recent diners. While some found the food and ambiance to be disappointing, others had a fantastic time. The building has potential but is in need of redecoration. Despite this, the friendly staff and warm atmosphere make it a popular choice for locals. The menu offers a variety of options, and the house specials are good value. Overall, it seems like Hobson's is a hit or miss depending on individual preferences.
Feedback
Went into Hobson with intention of eating. I stuck to the dirty carpet. Bathrooms are dirty. Place is not very wholesome, although quite packed with young families. Sandringham deserves some better restaurant venues.
We had a lovely evening here. The food was delicious and the ambience was warm and friendly. The only slight negative is that the food was a little more expensive than we anticipated for casual pub grub. We often go here just for a drink at the bar. The staff are friendly and attentive in both the bar area and restaurant. They offer complimentary warm bar snacks such as pizza which is always yummy.
Had a terrible night at Hobsons. Poorly trained staff who were unable to get drink or meal orders correct and appeared not too pleased when the drinks error was mentioned. The service was extremely slow and they took too long to take our dinner order. After waiting some time for our meals we found out that our order had not been passed on to the kitchen! We were seated for over an hour and a half before we received our meals! Mixed feeling on the quality of the meals that we felt had been quickly put together because of the delay.I also observed one of our party speaking to the manager as we left and was not impressed with watching the manager continue to clear the mats from around the bar rather than engaging with their customer. Felt like we were largely ignored and management did not care if we enjoyed our experience with them or not.It was a terrible night with mediocre food and as a result they have now lost a table full of customers. I would certainly not recommend the restaurant as there are plenty of restaurants that provide good service and appreciate their customers and the dollars that they spend with them.
Once upon a time Rosa Mitchell headed up the kitchen at Journal Canteen - a bustling Italian spot with the feel of a school dining hall during business
