Popped in for a beer whisky walking through Blake’s Wood. Nice pub, good pint of Guinness. Was busy with a private function in the garden but didn’t bother us. They had food trucks in the car park which was unusually but smelt great. We didn’t have food but I’d pop by again. Not sure why the poor reviews based on what we experienced I’d say worth a stop if passing. View all feedback.
What jimbosmiff doesn't like about The Generals Arms:
We visited this restaurant on a Friday night for drinks. It was quiet, but we were surprised to find out that they were closing at 10pm. The staff were not exactly rude, but they were not very welcoming either. We felt like we were intruding on their space. View all feedback.

I stopped by for a beer and a meal, but the restaurant seemed very disorganized. Many items on the menu were not available, and sauces were served in paper cake cups. The pub closed unexpectedly, giving the impression that the manager was bored. The site and location are beautiful, and it has the potential to be great, but unfortunately, it falls short.
The vegan burger I ordered wasn't really a burger, as it came in multiple unappetizing pieces resembling something from Iceland, served in a bun. I complained and mentioned that for the price, it should have been a patty. I was then served a similar processed breaded piece. The lady behind the bar couldn't tell me what dark beers were available, and the man serving food was shouting out table numbers like it was a game of bingo. It was disorganized and unprofessional. Overall, a disappointing experience.
Really friendly staff very welcoming and good food would recommend here any time, I enjoyed my time here!
Chicken goujons on menu, actually served frozen chicken nuggets for £7.95 chips £4.95. Would of been better off with a Happy Meal at McDonalds!
