The food here is absolutely amazing, the roast dinners are from this world. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I love the pub and the restaurant itself, has a great outdoor space. I know this place is set for many evening events, not yet visited, but cannot wait to try them out. Please have this place so close to where I live View all feedback.

Didn't realise it a Modern pub in middle of an housing estate We had to wait for 3/4 hour for our starter and when they did serve it it was so over it wasn't pleasant One the main course wanted a classic burger it came out it was so dry we got that taken off the bill but really the whole experience wasn't a pleasure Wouldn't go on there again View all feedback.

Great night had for nephew and his partner engagement party
BBQ cheese burger today was lovely going back for chicken ............................... Jerk Chicken was amazing washed down with a cider.
Visited on a rare trip to my home town. A lot has changed at the Clay to make it clearly the go-to pub for easy walking distance. Our visit was on the jubilee night and featured a lively live band and a livelier audience making for an enjoyable (and for me, rare) evening of celebration. They appear to be keeping the spirit of old chelmsford pubs alive, a bastion of hope for small pubs that aren 't trying to be more than they are.
