The campfire evenings stand out, featuring quick service and enjoyable family-friendly activities like marshmallow toasting. However, recent visits have revealed inconsistencies in breakfast quality, with complaints about poorly cooked food, tepid temperatures, and unaccommodating service. While some diners appreciate the lively ambiance and prompt service, others are deterred by high prices and disappointing meals, suggesting a need for improvements to match the appealing setting. Overall, the Bakehouse remains a hit-or-miss destination.
Unfortunately, it seems that the Bakehouse pub has not maintained their previous standard of high-quality food. This is the second disappointing experience since lockdown ended, with the first visit also falling short in terms of food quality. On this occasion, the tuna sandwich had an overly thick slice of bread with a minimal amount of tuna filling. The bread was stale, the lettuce was starting to brown, and the coleslaw was of a catering quality rather than the delicious homemade version they used to serve before lockdown. The sandwich was also served very quickly, indicating it had been prepared in advance. The service was good, but paying £19 for a coffee, sandwich, piece of cake, and water of this standard is not acceptable. Unfortunately, I will not be returning and am disappointed to see the decline in quality at this establishment.
I recently visited one of your Coffee Express locations in Colchester with my family, and I have to say it was a wonderful experience. The building was impeccable and we were greeted with smiles and cheerfulness. The venue was clean and the decor was lovely. The cakes, especially the lemon cake and the Eton mess, were delicious. The coffee was also excellent. With so many coffee shops in Colchester, you are definitely standing out. A special shoutout to your servers, who were very accommodating. The lady with the blue hair, I believe her name was Becks, was particularly helpful and assisted my mum. Thank you for a lovely visit.
Below average, I noticed a decline in the quality of the food, service, and cleanliness at this restaurant, particularly during the breakfast I had with friends recently. The eggs and mushrooms were not even cooked properly. Disappointing.
What has happened to your coffee? It used tomb brilliant but recently it 's gone up in price and down in strength and flavour. If I order a cappuccino and especially a flat white, I don 't want a milky 'granny ' coffee!
Ordered a fish finger wrap for the second time (last time was poor but thought maybe a one off) it was gross very very dried up and totally flavourless the salad looked old, I can’t believe how much this place has deteriorated they used to do a lovely Bakehouse Salad but couldn’t find that on the menu now. It’s not cheap here and there are far superior places not far away
